    Everquest Mysteries

This was in like November of 1999 on a PvP server, there were a handful of level 50s and even the concept of the 'uberguild' hadn't been invented yet, let alone things like raid loot rules. /random is the fairest loot system in that kind of environment because it's the only way you can...

The first cleric breastplate that dropped out of Hate for us went to somebody's level 45 alt because we used /random which was the most fair loot system ever.

We put a lot of work into getting him ready for that tournament. Truncheon was the best non-raid PvP weapon for sure, but a lot of the guys who showed up to that tournament had truly baller weapons, including one or two with VP weapons. I played the first round because he was still at church...

I'll do like every league and come up with a build that I think looks good based on the patch notes, and then ditch it for something else almost immediately.

Looks good to me -- I'd definitely swap out damage nodes for more life on HC, but if you aren't concerned about dying yet it's no big deal. Not sure I'm down with the empowered Hatred, but I don't know what else you'd do with your mana.

    Riot Games MMO

Yeah, that's how it works in League, for sure. In Dota, you use wildly different strategies to win the game, with hero and item selection typically being the drivers of that strategy.
  12. James

    Riot Games MMO

It does by your own admission -- niche heroes not being picked in a tournament means their niche isn't as strategically viable as whatever is popular in the meta. Dota Heroes have a much higher representation in the meta because they're designed better. Also: Keep in mind that in Dota you...

It means there's fewer viable strategies for winning the game.

    Riot Games MMO

Dota has an incredibly fluid meta, I'd be very surprised if LoL's lane/champion set up is as fluid or more than Dota's, don't you have to have a jungler still? Champion vs Hero usage statistics would suggest that as well, with Dota's major tournament utilizing 95% of the hero pool compared to...

    Riot Games MMO

Any more or less skill than the awareness required to determine that your team is clumped too close together and Enigma isn't showing on the map? Riot has chosen to define "skill" in a manner that suits them, and they design their game around it while wearing blinders to anything that doesn't...
  16. James

    Riot Games MMO

I'd say the second line directly counters the first line, and that you should qualify "skill-shots" differently. Using Enigma's Black Hole is totally instant, but pulling off a 5 hero black hole requires an incredible amount of skill that wouldn't have the same impact at all if you had to...

    Riot Games MMO

Their core principals of play-counter play and limiting burden of knowledge impose a significant limit on their design scope, and are borne out of a philosophy that says you need to keep your mechanics dumb to cater to a wider variety of people. League of Legends Champions are objectively less...

    Riot Games MMO

Their design philosophy is awful. So what if lots of people love bad design, more power to them, doesn't mean you should trust that they'll do anything remarkable in the MMO space especially given what we've seen from them already.
  19. James

    Riot Games MMO

The design is literally trash, they took Dota and dumbed it down. Just because a game is successful doesn't mean the studio knows anything about design, I remember reading a blog from one of these Riot shitlords saying that Bloodseeker's ult was bad because of the "burden of knowledge." Do you...

Zero faith in Riot to design a good game. League of Legends only works because it's Dota for retards, we already had an EverQuest for retards, and WoW for retards has never worked.

    World of Warcraft: Current Year

You just sit your ass in front of a mob and position your camera so that you can call out baddies doing bad things. If someone takes aggro off of you cause you aren't paying attention while calling people baddies, call them a baddie too.

Nah, quit WoW back in 2014, it was such an awful game and I've got like 0 hope the devs ever pulled their heads out of their ass. Did they ever get rid of badges, @Furor_Planedefiler? PoE is incredible, there's a lot to research and understand and the best way to get into it is to play until...

One of the outcomes of corruption is that it will re-roll your item into a rare with 6 mods and new sockets/links. All of these new rolls have an equal chance at success, so rolling 1 socket 1 link is as likely as getting 6 socket 6 link, and getting +1-3% increased physical damage is as likely...

I can't imagine ever having damage problems on anything but Shaper-esque stuff, and for Shaper-esque stuff I'd imagine Lightning Spire trap is as baller as it is elsewhere, but *shrug*. I haven't had any problems with it so far, it's fun and deals a shitload of damage on a 4L.

Super cheap comparatively, that wand was 10c, upgrading to dagger is the goal but I'm short on cash until something sells. I haven't even looked at Fire Trap, I'm very happy with Lightning Spire Trap, Vaal Arc, and a Diamond flask. Temple boss melted at level 79, as did the Torture Chamber boss.

Playing an arc trapper myself, it's pretty ridiculous. I've melted bosses up to t12 so far, and still tons of room to grow for damage, no deaths: View Profile - Path of Exile - JamesVZ

You wouldn't get the Endurance Charges or Leech from Warlord's Mark if your trap does the damage and makes the kill. Only way I know of to get Endurance Charges as a trapper is the Slavedriver's Hand. EDIT: (besides Enduring Cry of course)

On hit modifies your character, and traps take stats from your character. So if it would apply to you, it applies to your traps. My gloves have curse with level 12 Enfeeble on hit, and my traps proc it.

Nope, but that also means you don't get on-kill effects, either.

Also, when looking for budget builds to copy, look for ones that are listed as Hardcore Viable. Even if you're not playing them on Hardcore, the inherent survivability of those builds will be much less frustrating than something some SC scrublord cooked up. They also tend to take advantage of...
