And would cover the entire screen to show me 5 applications. Oh wait. I upgraded to Linux a couple months ago when we found out how pointless the changes in Windows 8.1 would be, couldn't even be bothered to wipe back to 7 which came on the machine. Really any desktop users should start...

    DOTA 2

They seem really insistent about Ember and Battlefury, its a Core Item as well as listed twice as situationalRadiance as an ability seems decent though as its tied to the spell shield its mostly for farming, AoE attack is pretty weak, bolas will probably never hit who you want, and the ultimate...

    Recomended Reading Thread

Just read Fledgling by Nicole Conway, fairly typical fantasy story but fairly well written; short at just under 300 pages but the Kindle edition is only a dollar so still worth it. Hopefully future books will be longer.

    DOTA 2

Need someone who can fight Batrider up there! In all serious I agree that all heroes should be limited to the map but I don't have an issue with trees, it isn't any different than blink, orb, and a number of other escapes. Many heroes have try destroying abilities so just pick one as a counter.

    DOTA 2

Supposedly he has some radio/broadcast background, so he probably learned to just fill space :/ More annoying to me is Clairvoyance, half of what he says is nonsensical (constantly misuses words) and continually contradicts what he said mere moments before.

    DOTA 2

That is irrelevant, Valve already has a large infrastructure and will spin up hosts for various games as needed. The new Pugna is pretty hilarious, I went 22-2-9 beating a 5-stack where their carries would try to solo man fight then attempt to run after discovering they couldn't out DPS leech.

    DOTA 2

I found turning on the "No Stacks When Alone" setting helps a bit. I really wish they had charged a token amount for the game and made the bar a little higher to play.

    DOTA 2

I seem to be alone in this, but the only Invoker I've seen have a big impact on the game was IceIceIce. The rest of the games, including a few from Dendi it never seems like Invoker has a big presence, they mostly get targetted and run away. Its interesting to me that Troll Warlord...

    Wii U

I'm in the same boat, the PS4 and XboxOne don't really interest me; I realized haven't used either my PS3 or Xbox360 since 2012. I've been thinking I might wait for prices to drop a bit more, perhaps see bundles or whatever Nintendo calls the platinum (cheap) editions of a few interesting games.

Best wifi adapter for picking up weak signals?

Google seems to suggest this is a USB adapter, very unlikely you can attach an external antenna to this device. Normally you'd want to replace a stock antenna with -Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, Networking, Wireless Networking, Wireless Accessories, Antenna

    Recommend some Podcasts

Tell Em Stevedave- Often hilarious, imo the best and most consistent show on Smodcast. I would disagee, for me the topics are very hit or miss; some like the Harper High episodes are fantastic while many others I'm bored of in a few minutes and they don't ever pick up.

The cynic in me thinks it might be that executives have iphones and tell the peons what to write, the fair minded thinks that it might be because of the addition of ipad+ipod numbers (though the often spouted numbers sold to date isn't interesting as most are no doubt broken or EOL for OS...

Has anyone else seen cursor corruption on Windows 7? It looks like the top couple of pixels of the appropriate cursor (e.g. tip of the arrow, top of the text I, top sides of the <-> arrow) are repeated 5 times with a slight gap between them. I haven't been able to determine the trigger...

    Random technology news & announcements

This tech isn't really new, MIT researchers were powering a 60w lightbulb at 2-meters6-years ago. Really though, this sort of tech seems like it would be very bad for the power grid, radiating power for devices is massively wasteful. I also found this claim to be pretty questionable: The...

Business Ethics - Companies that you refuse to do business with

You should follow through with the complaints, if they're on the store's property complain to the manager and write corporate, they'll get booted. Call in a complaint to the local cops, they probably won't do anything unless they hear a lot of complaints (or the desk cop you talk to hates them...

I wouldn't say its ugly, and to be honest have you seen some of the watches that are considered fashionable these days? Ginormous faces and crazy ass colours just like this one. That said, I agree they're too expensive; heck it is the same price as the Nexus-4 at release, and more expensive...

The Big Bad Console Thread - Sway your Station with an Xboner !

Of course there is, 99% of games don't use the d-pad for anything other than the occasional directional mash. The rest of the controller components are more complex and used in every game so obviously they would invest the vast majority of the R&D and manufacturing cost in the sticks and...

I blame Apple fanboys for starting it, Apple was always blathered about how their packaging was a great experience. While I don't care about the unboxing, I do find video of a product much more helpful than images in getting a sense of products.

Oblivion - Tom Cruise goes WALL-E

That is the epilogue, not the ending. The epilogue doesn't even make much sense when you think about it - clone 49 of my dead husband who saved me... clone 52 of my husband... a train of clones... Seriously anyone who happens to look like her dead husband works? Every character other than...

Oblivion - Tom Cruise goes WALL-E

I liked the ending too... when I saw it 17 years ago in Independence Day. While it wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen its full of massive plot holes, huge stretches of "look at our cgi!" and generally unexplained characters.

Try Firefox with AdBlock+ I find killing the ads and the various tracking scripts makes browsing much faster and nicer as there are fewer things to accidentally click on. Start time (probably due to adblock compiling the block list) is definitely slower than mobile chrome.

Call me a pessamist but I don't think this will gather speed over time, it isn't something with mass market appeal that will snowball as word gets out (if nothing else it's too expensive). The sales to this point are probably just die hard FSF types and gadget press.
