Man, my childhood is dying this week.

I don't believe they do. I think they made a decent game on a fluke.

Well another one is I got a medium quality pelt or some shit, and it said I could process it at a tannery it on the description. Okay, cool. Luckily I had you map which labels it tannery, otherwise I'd never have found that fucking place and would've just trashed it. Even still, it wasn't until...

Holy shit, thanks. That's helpful. I saw a whole long convo on the Discord the other day about why not having maps in games now is retarded. Basically everyone is going to look one up anyway, so why waste time?

Not to only complain, but holy shit the "only sell items to certain vendors" system is also AIDS. It'd be one thing if the vendors were actually easy to find, but it seems like they're hidden in a sea of empty buildings. Like I've got a bunch of fire beetle parts that no one wants. And with like...

Man, it's no wonder I never got into this. Started a shaman. Read the guild note and it gives me some vague directions. Cool, into the city I go (should also mention it's night so I can't see shit). Oh, there's a sign with landmarks. Well fuck, the vague direction I was given isn't on the sign...

They have a name for people like you, too. Mary Sue. Just because you think things are looking up doesn't mean they are. It just means you're unwilling to acknowledge reality. That's not healthy either.

It's because consumers are fucking idiots and enable it though. Look at the people who paid hundreds of dollars to test AoC for them. It's been over a decade of companies releasing unfinished games in EA and then just never really getting around to finishing them, because they already got your...

For some reason when we got to Florida my wife really wanted donuts on the beach. I have no idea why, maybe something from her childhood? We saw that a dozen donuts at Krispy Kreme were like $15 and she's like "fuck that, nevermind, that's retarded." I don't know when donuts became so...

And yet, Taylor Swift did the same thing (kind of) and everyone loved her for it. I went to the Metal thread earlier and saw the lineup for his farewell concert. I had seen some clips of it not even realizing that's what it was, but holy shit that lineup was insane.

    7 Days to Die

You look at that video, and everyone basically says A15 to 16 was the peak of the game. It was where basically base building was up to the player's imagination, and they had the learn by doing system. Everything they've done since then is turning a sandbox game into more and more of an on-rails...

Wasn't necessarily "listening' but for my drum practice today I played: War Pigs Iron Man Paranoid Sweet Leaf Mr. Crowley Mama, I'm Coming Home No More Tears Might've missed one or two. I agree that getting an ornithopter feels incredibly rewarding, but that's also about the time the game started to fall off for me. Before it, the game world felt challenging and vast. After it, you just start checking boxes for finishing things.

    Lee Cronin's The Mummy (2026)

Probably just trying to do a horror movie cliche. Like "Wes Craven's blah blah blah" or...I dunno, that's the only one I can think of immediately. I'm sure there are others.

That seems like a strategy that worked 30 years ago when the only source you might have would be Ain't It Cool News. In 2025 it will 100% be leaked. Why bother? It's not like whoever was cast is going to be some big shocking moment. Like, who actually gives a shit?

You're probably right, but they would've been smart to release it closer to the show. By the time they release the game, the show will have long since been cancelled.

    Fallout 5 - greenlit apparently

Don't worry, a few years from now people here will be "sure, it's $90 and they haven't made a good game in decades, but this is a day one buy for me." And then they'll say "well I got 20 hours out of it and that's a good value at under $5 an hour!" A year or two after release they'll finally...

Yeah, I just didn't have the patience for it. I figured it'd definitely go up, but I thought it might settle around $40-50. No big deal though, I only had my AMC remnants in it, and even if I'd held until now would've only been worth about $3500.

Adrullan really scratched an itch, and it seems like it and MnM have a lot in common. But it seems like every single thing I read about MnM, or video I watch, and the game just seems like a fucking pain in the ass to play with a shit ton of "realism" inserted that just makes things...not fun...

    Dune Awakening

My thing is still, there's no reward system in place for PVP. It's just PVP for the sake of PVP. If I'm a PVE player, what's the incentive to engage in PVP whatsoever? I don't mean venturing into PVP areas, I mean actually doing PVP. In fact, the carrot here is to actively avoid PVP as much as...

Well I enjoyed this. Bummed it's likely not only years out from release, but probably many months until another test. In fairness, it seems like the only games that still do monthly subs are ancient MMO's. Somehow nearly every game for the past decade has managed to pay for server costs and continuous development without them. It made sense 25 years ago when hosting online servers was costly. In 2025 it's a...
