Modern software sucks, and computing is garbage while hardware is blazing new frontiers.

As for the OP: It's funny how regressive so many websites are. Recipe websites are some of the worst offenders. You're at the store trying to remember what herbs you need to buy for your pot roast so you try and find some recipes and are swarmed with the most ad-infested, dysfunctional garbage...

Modern software sucks, and computing is garbage while hardware is blazing new frontiers.

I started reading Clean Code about 5ish years ago. As you probably know but others might, a common approach in his book is to take an example of bad production code and clean it up. It's a great approach and he picked some good examples of trash code that's out there. I strongly disagreed with...

The EmDrive is the only way we're going to get to Alpha Centauri. Just a matter of time before it's put into production by Dr. Shawyer. I built a prototype and use it to power my car.

Can get hard to differentiate between that. Biggest achievement for spacex will either be their two stage starship landing both stages and then orbital refueling. Both are huge tech and infrastructure gains. The infrastructure they're building for the starship production is incredible.

The game is programmed to detect when your aim is shit and increases your melee damage based on how bad it is.

Star Citizen Online - The search for more money

People being mad at the SC skins they paid $50 for not being as nice looking as the marketing is like, being upset that the bull that just cucked you not taking his shoes before jumping in your bed like you asked him to multiple times now.

Elden Ring - From Software + George RR Martin

Coop in DS games adds flavor, but players who just pull in another player everytime they fight a boss they have trouble beating are robbing themselves of the robust Dark Souls experience. Sure, sometimes you bring in some scrub who just feeds the boss leaving you to your demise, but frequently...

Elden Ring - From Software + George RR Martin

One of the best part about beating a dark souls game is reading the lore written that's teased out from hints in the game. Once it's all pieced together it reads like a mad max fever dream. It kind of reminds of the dark tower series. I don't really know how you build off of the dark souls...

    Windows 11

Every windows version makes the gui objectively worse. The worst part is how they'll redesign a gui like mouse or sound controls, but strip out 90% of the functionality, forcing users to get through their shit UI to do anything useful. I know they're not serious about cleaning up this shit...

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

Never played FO76 and didn't follow it, but isn't like, a budget version of a Bethesda Game Studios game that got brought into the Bethesda fold halfway through development?

    Love, Death & Robots

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

Yeah if they switched engines that'd be the biggest question. TES5 was so successful on Xbox that they could conceivably ditch modding and still make a commercially successful TES6, but it definitely wouldn't be elder scrolls. Some of the almost incidental modability in some C# games like...

Dyson Sphere Program. Was really impressed how stable it was, especially for being made by a handful of people in China, allegedly. Both are great engines. Personally, if I hear a game dev with an interesting concept is choosing one of them I'll feel relieved and know the game will at least...

Starfield would've been a great time to jump onto Unreal and work on that integration leading into TES6.

    Starfield - Fallout fallout that isn't ES6

I'm curious how they're going to translate their theme park open world RPG style into a near-future space sim. Something like Bethesda does Freelancer is pretty exciting and is what a ton of people really want, but I doubt they're getting there with this near-future tech unless this is going to...

Dark souls 3 was the first from software game i didn't finish. Just got bored of the same gameplay loop of running into a new boss or encounter, memorizing their animations and then execution them. It's hard to describe but it didn't feel like i was getting good at the game, just getting good at...

    Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

Anyone who makes the choice to roll up TaleWorlds forums, a company that took 40 years to release Bannerlord, to give advice on project management skills probably has nothing useful to say about it. brb, going to give some life coaching to a homeless person and hope he doesn't bite me and give...

This sounds like a legend. So many people who like to supplant their mediocrity by gimping themselves to off-meta builds would find this shit, and these people will talk CONSTANTLY about the virtues of their stupid builds that they wouldn't be able to keep a secret.

    The E3 2021 Thread

I saw this thread and thought about why I don't really care all that much about E3 2021. I feel like over the last ~5 years I've gotten so jaded by the same AAA games being done over and over it's hard to get interested in another round of the same game I've seen before. I couldn't get through...

Played a bit more, did a circuit where I traveled to one corner of the map scooping up domain era probes. Ran into a Domain Era Vessel or something I couldn't beat. I'm still having a bit of trouble exerting control my ships. I want to have a nice attack squadron that isolates and murders...

Having trouble getting into the game because of the combat. I kind of expected to have tight control of my fleet and be able to out-maneuver the enemy with some Honor Harrington moves.
