    Smartphones

I've played around with the Facebook Messenger app for making calls, it works pretty good. Can you tell that you are calling over the internet... yes. Is it bad enough that my wife will stop calling me... I certainly hope so. All kidding aside, it seems to work pretty good and is how I plan...

    Weird interview/job offer experiences?

A coworker of mine was trying to become a firefighter. Trying to get on as a full time paid firefighter is very competitive I guess (at least in my area). They have to go through all kinds of testing and stuff and finish in the very top percentage just to get the interviews usually. One...

My bill online breaks out my minutes and shows how many VZW-to-VZW minutes were used even though they are unlimited. I too am a little hesitant, but for me I am rarely away from Wi-Fi so I should be able to make it work. I even have Wi-Fi access at most of my favorite restaurants. Little...

Nine Inch Nails - New album is done

I remember reading Trent saying something along the lines of "I'm sick of doing the greatest hits bullshit" in regards to this tour. They could end up playing mostly new material.

    Fired for an availability change..

If I fire someone who "isn't a good fit" I will get dinged for their unemployment should they claim it. If I fire someone for a "lack of availability" I stand a chance of not having to pay that unemployment. And at least in my state, having to pay unemployment means more expenses than just...

Finally dumping Verizon and am going to give this plan a try. I figure between Google Voice and Facebook Messenger/Google Hangouts I can easily keep from going over the minutes. I was generally sitting around 150 minutes used per month on Verizon but that was without caring at all how many I...

I am not sure why exactly, but it isn't available for certain areas as of yet. I know I can't get a number ported or a new number for my area code currently with Google Voice. It's not a state thing because I can get a number with a Seattle area code... For some of us, getting a new number...

This works well. Might have to get a new phone number through Google Voice as they won't port over numbers from certain area codes.

Exactly. Not every model of T-Mobile phones have the built in WiFi calling and unfortunately the Nexus 4 is one of those phones that doesn't have that feature (even if you get it through T-Mobile).

    Bicycling

You really do have to ride some bikes to get a feel, but I am 5'12" (Just shy enough of 6' to where I won't call myself that tall) and I ride either 58 or even 60 on some road bikes depending on brand. I feel more comfortable on a bigger frame though. I also ride a 'Large' for my mountain bike...

The field I worked at they had to be 14 I believe for insurance reasons, although it has been 10+ years since I did that so my memory is a little hazy. I do remember having to turn kids away since they weren't old enough, talk about some sad kiddos. Doesn't stop you from letting them shoot...

Adventures with Corndog: Corndog's Fish Store

Not sure, my brand was recognizable (because we have been in town for so long) but the fact we delivered was not, even though my place started delivering before Pizza Hut, Dominos or anyone else in town at the time. I still get "I didn't know you guys delivered!" all the time. Probably because...

I know in the pizza business, car toppers have been shown to increase delivery business by as much as 30% (I've personally seen those results). Only thing on my car toppers is my logo. No number, no website, people don't really have the time/ability to write those things down anyways. Thing...

I played a bunch in the late 90's/ early 2000's. I even worked at a field over a summer one year. I probably started and quit a couple of times. It would start with playing some woods-ball every weekend, realizing I was too good for that, moving up to speedball, playing in a local tourney...

    Star Trek - Into Darkness

Finally got around to seeing this tonight. I've got mixed feelings on it overall. It hit all the nostalgia buttons for me for sure. I thought the effects and the acting was all well done overall. I thought Cumberbatch did a pretty decent job at re-imagining Khan. I personally feel that...

What is more important... Salary or fringe benefits?

For me, flexible schedule is a fringe benefit I consider more important than salary. Big reason I became my own boss. Whether it is hitting up the mountain on an epic powder day or taking advantage of a mid-week deal to Vegas, being able to leave the job for a couple of days on a whim is...

Adventures with Lyrical: Buying a Business (REPOST)
