    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

It was a good feature, and actually solved Kruegen's "I Hate AA" problem. IIRC, it was basically a sort of AA system - except you didn't buy it, kill 200 spiders and you'd get the +%damage to spider achievement. Then you could slot the achievements - so you didn't get AA bloat. I think at...

Project Eternity: An old school RPG trying do its own thing. Anyway, NewCo is going to get a lot more mileage and money trying to recreate some of that old-school experience than otherwise. Which is why @Convo I believe they have to do mostly non-instanced (inworld) dungeons and why...

I like this. I think it's a nice way to combine AAs with Leveling and it leads to theorycrafting which Draegen wants (what AAs is the optimal build for a leveling X, yada yada yada), while preventing the 'I done fucked up' issue someone was saying. So you didn't do the optimal, Run 3 AA at...

This is always going to happen in any system. Again look at MTG - which is a classic leveless game (and which is an inspiration for EQN so that's why it is relevant to a discussion on MMO). I agree with Hachima that people chase items (as well as levels), so even if EQN was perfectly flat (one...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

No. The raid guilds who could clear the old content are already chasing the carrot of the new content without need for the gear reset. All the gear reset does is screw over family guilds that couldn't clear the old content. So that's how you end up with shit like two types of group/raid...

    Pan'Theon: Rise' of th'e Fal'Len - #1 Thread in MMO

For the record there is room for innovation in leveling systems. I believe a flatter leveling system that is more like original ADD might be an improvement over the current system. Generally leveling works best if: 1. There are no gear resets with new expansions (flatter itemization). This...

Eating fish contaminated by Fukushima is probably ok

Major eruptions occurred roughly 2.1m, 1.3m and 640,000 years ago. A difference of 800,000 betwen the first and second and 660,000 between the second and third. So I'm cool with ignoring your bolded statement given 3 such eruptions in the past 2.1 million years - that's pretty wishful thinking...

I don't have a problem with flatter levels - in DnD the difference between a level 1 and a level 3 is much bigger than say a level 9 and level 11.

I not looking for that I don't think - for example storybricks looks interesting, but on the other hand a fully dynamic world could get annoying at times. You go off looking for Orcs to get some bronze armor, you get there and they're gone, replaced by Trolls who kick your ass. It's like the...

Pretty much this. There are a lot of other games out there that with much better funding. Pantheon only succeeds as a niche game. Too bad they can't do something like EVE and put everyone on the same server (or two servers if PvE/PvP) - just wouldn't work in a fantasy game.

Unlikely anytime soon, but possible tomorrow. Super eruptions happen every 630-670,000 years. It's been 630,000 years since that last one.

Fukushima and Solar Flares are much higher on the concern scale - though Yellowstone could have a small scale eruption anytime, super eruption probably not happening for a couple thousand years, but you never know. I wouldn't buy a house in Colorado.
