It wasn't a fusion powered car, it looked like it was just a normal gasoline powered one. If it was a nuclear one, it would have had a much bigger explosion like the one at Novac

We haven’t seen anyone perma freed from the hive yet, but I suspect they won’t remember anything experienced by the hive itself. It will be like a data file split amongst 6 billion people - they each store a small fragment, but the fragment is worthless without the whole. An individual human...

Alternatively, it could be how an alien race "reproduces". I forget the name of the book series, but it was about an alien race that came to Earth and began to seed their genetic material into the human population (which has a much larger impact on babies born from the genetically altered...

    Fallout

The worst stance to take would be "we don't want to invalidate anyone's ending" because it actually does that exact thing when they have to come up with some convoluted reason why X faction is still around rather than grow a set of balls and just confirm the canon ending

The best use of AI in game development is going to be in helping "fill in the blanks" that a human dev team experiences while making the game: Smoothing out animations, fleshing out flavor content, creating more meaningful "fluff" content. Like for example, one complaint about Starfield was...

Sorry, I should have rephrased. Tobacco companies used propaganda to counter claims about health issues caused by using tobacco - ads with "doctors" making claims that tobacco was safe, etc. You can find tons of that shit in the mid 20th century

Thr irony of this post is glossing over that tobacco companies used propaganda to make people smoke

    Fallout

It does, although it's sort of a lame copout that they have such a big aversion to confirming a canon ending on the show. I sort of get it, because it gives Bethesda more time while designing Fallout 5 to pick a canon ending for NV or 4 or whatever if needed themselves when developing the...

    Fallout

I was joking the Commonwealth BOS that show up might be synths before, but that name drop got me thinking there is a real possibility. It would be a hell of a coincidence or outright red herring to use that name otherwise Commonwealth BOS existing narrows down Fallout 4 to 2 possible canon...

The funny part about that old commercial is the actor was Italian They were effective, though. American roads/highways looked like trash dumps before the “keep America clean” push in the 60s/70s

They’re kind of limited in what they can do if they don’t want to stray from the art design philosophy of “retro future 70s/early 80s post-apocalypse”

    Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

In other news, looks like Thomas Jane was cast as Bones for the SNW finale. They also cast a Sulu, which seems to imply the final episode will probably involve the Enterprise fully swapping over to Kirk's crew https://blog.trekcore.com/2025/12/star-trek-strange-new-worlds-casting-mccoy-sulu/...

That was one thing I disliked when visiting Japan years ago - I've gotten so used to no smoking in restaurants that it was kind of a shock when I went to a few and half the booths are puffing away at their tables.

Japan mostly started in the aftermath of WW2 - it was viewed as a way to get more food into the country. It’s fallen out of favor with younger generations, much like how dog meat isn’t as acceptable to younger people in places like Korea or China. Norway and Iceland still did it, although...

North America solo queue is usually pretty chill if you get matched with other chill solos. Just don’t attack people first if possible and you’ll eventually get matched more often than not with chill people who are more interested in PvE than PvP

    Avatar 3 (2025)

Ultimately you need sort of an end game. Only way the current cycle ends is 1) Earth is suddenly incapable of launching missions for some reason or 2) Pandora somehow gets a tactical advantage that negates Earth's technological superiority which in turn allows negotiation

    Dune Awakening

I don't doubt it was fun, but that fun is also relative. If everyone playing had the same mindset, sure. But they don't, which is why the past 20 years have shown if you take a fundamentally PVE-style game, but add PVP elements to it and the PVP element cannot be opted out of, then eventually...

Garriot himself mentioned that population in UO increases 60% after Trammel came out. Point is that people were more willing to play when you couldn't just get shanked out in the woods and lose all your shit

    General Gaming News and Discussion

Huh? You must have done something or said something wrong, because it's pretty easy to get the "we live together in a cabin in the woods" relationship ending. Also I am seeing a recurring theme - people murdering characters then complaining about not getting into the game. You're literally...

I saw that - he gets a lot of things wrong about the game, which to me says he didn't have a lot of personal experience with it and he also missed a lot of community complaints. I can tell you what killed the game population just from having played it for hundreds of hours 1) Unsatisfying...

They started to course correct in 7.2 (was too late for 7.1). 7.2 and 7.3 she is there, but not in an oversized role and they tone her down. She gets a heroic moment in 7.3, but it feels more like a team effort heroic moment rather than a "lul kill steal!" moment that 7.0 came across as. 7.4...

    Fallout 5 - greenlit apparently

Starfield IMO should have leaned into the multiverse stuff earlier - reduce the scope of MSQ/systems, let the player experience the "base story", then you start jumping to alternate universes that range between "what if?" scenarios to show deviations from the base story to completely off the...

Some good changes there - Lansgrad moving to a personal advancement system makes it more interesting. Some new melee weapons/reworks and scalable dungeons/overland map locations seems cool too. Hopefully it can bring people back.
