Early in the game Iksar Monks were the coolest. Only other class I wanted to play. But back then the 6 months plus to get my SK to level 60 was just too much to repeat for a different class.

This is what happens when you don't play for years and years.. Yeah, I cheated to level 100 with a DH. Having fun though.

There is a fourth type. I play a lot of mmo's casually, for a month or two at a time and then move on. Only to come back a year or so later. I didn't like BDO enough to keep at it, but it does have some fun elements - combat, graphics, etc.

Yeah, there is a ton of good art out there selling for nothing, and desperate talent making it. Biggest reason I left the biz, some really great artists whore themselves for pennies. As do most of the people in gaming. If you're not an owner, bend over and give it away.

Living World Season 3 is decent. Not much of it. But a nice addition. New zone is cool.

I generally don't like GW2's story stuff but have been finishing up the season 2 for the mastery points and actually enjoyed some of it. It's worth it imo with the discount.

Most of this crowd has been around the block enough times to see through that crap. But everyone can be fooled occasionally (apologies to Lincoln for the steal).

BDO's pvp is pretty cool, too bad it is hidden behind a fuckwall of pve grinding.

I always thought something like EQ's Velious faction system (with modifications) would work for RvR. Each faction had benefits, and it was a real pain to change sides for most players. There were ways to speed up faction change in Velious, but that would be easy to fix in an RvR game.

Are there any 2 faction games that didn't fail in the RvR arena? I don't recall. They may be very successful at PvE (WoW), but not in RvR. WarHammer and Aion were great games at first, but then the masses joined the winning side and the RvR fun ended. Aion still limps along but it's RvR is...

The gliding is pretty cool and the elites are required if you want to do any serious pvp or raids, for that you'll need the expansion. But other than that HoT is a pretty serious let down. If you are casual and not interested in pvp, wvw or raids, HoT is probably a pass.

It's a PvE grind game with very, very little PvP. Maybe things get better with node wars.

The popularity of classic servers for both EQ and WoW indicates that there may be a much bigger market for the old school rule sets they represent than anyone realizes. BDO taps into that a little bit. But until somebody actually makes a game that satisfies that itch, it's all conjecture...

Pretty much. Too much grinding to get to the good stuff. Although I did find the pve enjoyable, love the combat. So I'll probably go back occasionally just to putz around doing that. But I'll never have the time to grind for the +20, gear, etc. needed to be competitive in GvG.
