Dallas 0 for 3 on the power play
TB 3 out of 4 on the power play
Dallas had their chances to win but failed

at least 2 high sticking not called on Dallas and the embellishment call in Dallas’s favor

Dallas has no one to blame but themselves

Yeah, you're absolutely right. I fear this series is all but over. I really thought Dallas had it in them to play at this level, but Tampa Bay is just killing it. And their goalie is unreal.

Vasy has also played every minute this postseason, I don't think McElhinney has seen the ice during a game yet.

Yet no one agrees with you.

Didn't see rest of the game for context...in a vacuum I've definitely seen that let go in OT in the playoffs, but I've also seen much weaker stuff called, too.

In cases like these we always defer to the old adage "don't let it come down to the refs".

Was just Benn being a much larger, stronger human being. Absolutely zero "tripping" there. Even the guys on the telecast completely disagreed with it.

That being said, TB has just been the much cleaner team. After Miro dumped that bonehead pass and gave up the goal in game 2 I got worried. TB's brand of hockey just seems to lead to way fewer mistakes, as where the Stars have to risk it all for some shots.

NBC broadcast guys aren't hardly right all the time. The one leg looking like it was being "kicked out" far before anything else is probably what sold the call. I'm just saying it falls well within the inconsistencies of NHL officiating that it's whatevs.

Looking at it again, they could have called him for holding the stick as much as tripping. It resembles a slew foot somewhat in that he's pulling back on the top half while holding the stick and pushing one of his legs out from under him at the same time. Although not an actual "slew foot" b/c he isn't kicking the legs out from under him directly.

In OT of a Stanley Cup Finals game, you probably would expect that to be let go, but again, I've seen softer stuff get called. NHL refs are nothing if not consistently inconsistent.

Solid period from Dallas, just keep it going.

In other news, the Rangers just paid the Wings with a 2021 2nd round pick to take Marc Staal. I like it. He only has 1 year left at 5.7m and maybe we could flip him at the deadline next year.

Did not see this coming at all. I'm thinking there gonna buy him out, Steve Y saying his NMC wasn't an issue is suspicious and i'm not sure how much value he has on the market. Respect the hell outta Marc, but he can't keep up with the game anymore. Detroit basically buys a 2nd next year for I think around 2.5 mil (the rest is made up of his signing bonus) and we get up to 20mil cap space and HOPEFULLY don't buy out Hanks last year. I'd say good deal for both sides.

We have a few RFA's to pay or trade and money to burn, curious to see what we do next.

I saw that Steve said the NMC did not apply, which is curious. I'm hearing that he hasn't been the same since the concussion and puck to the eye, and that he was often a healthy scratch. That's a damn expensive guy to not put on the ice, but then the Rangers also paid Stattenkirk $6m to not play for them this year.

Detroit now has 20 picks in the next 2 drafts. Hopefully we can load up on some decent kids, or maybe package a few picks to get some teams to take Abdelkader or Nielsen.

Nice job hanging in there Dallas. Had to listen to the 1st OT on my way to work and it sounded like they were completely outplayed during it.

They were completely outplayed in both, had what like 5 shots total in both OTs combined? Too bad it only takes the one.

Boy did Dallas shit the bed. So few shots on goal. Waited too long to get the goalie out of the net. Sloppy neutral zone play.

Good thing it's not an important game or anything.
