I might be wrong, but I think under disability you're still "allowed" to have a job or make money up to a certain point. Yeah part time wages would still allow me to keep my whole disability check. I tried cashiering for a minute but the fact that Americans have to stand on their feet the entire shift even for jobs like that made shit hard with my fatigue/pain. If there was a place that would allow me to cashier while sitting on a stool I'd be working tomorrow.

When I was still getting my pain med prescription I made an extra several hundred dollars a month selling part of my script. Not proud of it but I sold to exactly two people, a couple. The wife had chronic pain from an accident at the factory I used to work at, a parts picker robot malfunctioned and crushed her legs. And the husband worked 56 hours a week and mainly used them after he'd get home to help him deal with the pains of production work. Felt guilty but of all people I could sell to, they were some of the most morally "okay".

I literally paid money for an electric standing desk to be able to stand while I work while the poors are complaining about getting this benefit for free.

Jesus Christ is there no excuse they won't pull to avoid working?

Actually going to apply to cashier at the gas station a couple blocks from me, but want to get a few other things out of the way first. Would be really nice to get my hearing aids finally before I do that. My hearing is so fucked from high dose cisplatin that I don't think I'd be able to work an at home call center job let alone cashiering to hicks with poor inflection.

For instance, earlier tonight I had "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath on at a reasonable volume, but couldn't even hear the solo hi hat in the verse. Higher pitch vocal sounds like Fs, Ts, Ss, etc are near impossible for me to hear. I'm sure I'd end up annoying a lot of customers asking them to repeat themselves.

It’s something like 30 hours/week, at least here in Michigan. One of my employees bitches about it because he’s constantly running out of hours and can’t work some of his shifts.

?? He could work as many hours as he wants. I think the limit is like $1200 a month between your disability check and your job. And working extra hours beyond that is still worth it, just not as worth it... Diminishing returns sort of thing. Still there isn't a point at which you make LESS money by working more. Excepting certain situations when you're in low income housing and your rent payment slides depending on how much you made each month. That's rare tho. And low income housing is so hard to get into in Michigan (I'm in the Thumb btw, just moved to Brown City, north of Imlay City) that odds are he's not in it...

You MIGHT be thinking about the number of hours a part time employee can work before the employer has to give them insurance benefits. I can't remember that number but it's somewhere in the 29-32/hr a week range.
