AO has the best classes of any MMO, they're all unique and interesting and fun to play. I especially love my shade. I was considering going back sometime to potentially try this AOsharp or whatever multiboxing program it sounds like everyone is using now, which I'm assuming is something like MQ2 for EQ?

I remember playing this a month or two. I think my computer at the time was pretty bad but also that the servers were janky as hell.

It was one of the games I hoped would replace the EQ feeling. Sadly it did not work like all the other games I tried, mainly due to me being too lazy to try find "new friends" to play with.

It was really cool at the time even if the models and animations were pretty bad looking.

I think AO could have probably been considered below average on graphics even for its time, but goddamn, the game did everything right for me. The soundtrack is absolutely amazing. Sometimes I'll zone to Milky Way or sit in one of the shadowlands gardens just to listen to the music. I never really had any major issues with the game as far as bugs.

I'd give up both nuts to go back to the golden days of AO, even just for a day.

I’d shell out serious money for a top of the line PC/Monitor if they ever did a modern day remake with the latest and greatest graphics.

Didn’t even know AO was still online. Hows the population and whats the endgame like these days?

Edit: Oh Funcom sold to Tencent and all support for the game has been cut? Is that accurate?

I would be there in a heartbeat. Someone just build it in UE5 or something.

Started playing this last week. It's been a blast so far. The population is decent, all things considering. If anyone wants to group up, feel free to send a DM.

I'm going to bet there's a solid % chance this eventually runs smoother than the actual game.
On their page they actually talk about fixing a bunch of the original issues, like leashing.

When/Why did they change the Improvement Points UI window? Is there a way to get it back instead of using the new one?

PRK (Project Rubi-Ka) emu just went live indefinitely

some stuff is missing, like missions, and they modified some minor stuff, like a new subway boss and easier craftable weapons, but overall good start

i had to change directx settings in the launcher to fix crashes

All I remember about AO is it had a fun twinking system. Get buffs, to insert some stat things in order to get better buffs to then put on the real gear you want to twink with, something like that. It's been a long time and it was fun to figure out how ridiculous you could get twinked out back then.

I played early on for a while. That seems to be the only thing I remember. Trying to step up each set until you had the best. It was a huge thing.

Yeah you even had special set of implants you only used to equip gear with. Ones that would put you just over the edge to get that gun or piece of armor on. But you needed other "stepping" implants to get those on in the first place. It was like a puzzle you had to solve. Shit I remember like at lv 130ish or whatever it was you could equip lv 200 stuff. Lv130ish engineers running around with lv200 pets. It was its own little meta game.

The game was a mess in the beginning but still, it had a certain charm to it. It was also very innovative for the time, introducing shit like instances, beginning of procedural generated content. It even had social dungeons that would pop another instance if it was too full. Shit that was all new at the time. Also shit like their chat engine, man how creative was that? You could literally set up bots that would track your guild, attendance, DKP, they were the first to have linked items in chat....

The Agent remains one of my favorite concepts, a class where you get to mix and match other classes' abilities (albeit at lower level) based on what you needed to do.

Also the first game to realize Tanks only want one thing and it's +% Character Model Size
