Apex Legends new free to play battle royale game from Respawn

I'm in love with the new map. It's definitely made for me as a "mid fielder." In King's Canyon, I would bounce from 500 to 1000 damage.. but now consistently 1300-2k damage. Having people not being in my face constantly has been a blessing.

As far as Crypto, I don't think hes OP. I've had a few where my team would engage, or I would engage w/ a crypto on my team, and it was a 2v3, or 2v6 with crypto trying to relay information. It's just a 'high' skill ceiling, and cooperation. I'm certain hes strong, but not like S-tier strong; but i've only played like 5 games and havent learned all the cheeky spots.

The loot is definitely spread, but the flow will come over time. I struggle at landing at the building doors because I don't know them just yet, but its rare to have like 5 teams in a spot too.

Laser rifle definitely feels amazing. Not sure if it's too good or just feels good. I'd have to compare it to a Longbow (which I'm 75% sure they increased the velocity of, thank god). I can devastate teams with it, but the reload on it is probably 50% longer than even the longbow. If you don't have at least a white mag on it don't bother using it. It's like a 7 second reload.

There's some new bugs and some old ones popping up. The classic "I hit them and heard sounds and saw red flashes but got no damage" bug is back. Super. Also a couple times landing I landed THROUGH the building I was aiming at. Weird, but at least I'm not falling through the world.

Pathfinder is not nearly as good as I hoped. A lot of the buildings you can't grapple to/on. Like, it's considered a non-grapple surface. A lot of the tall buildings are like that so you can't Spiderman around town. That and the over abundance of ziplines he's not as big a must as I was thinking.

Double tap feels off. Great for long range scout as I believe both bullets hit the same spot. Up close you're fucking your DPS and should just single fire spam I'm fairly confident. So snipe with double tap and spam with single for maximum dps. The Eva with it is worse as well. You're hoping for 126 damage with a huge delay if both shots hit full body pellets. You might as well Peacekeeper for an easier line-up on a single shot for 110 damage. I'm not sure if the last time I double-tapped the EVA 8 I had a big boy bolt or not. I'll test it more, but there's not much reason for using an EVA for me outside the initial landing fights.

I've gotten the Anvil receiver several times, only really used it a little. I think unless they're like 4x scoping it's basically a downgrade. I think you can 2-4x a 301 or Hardline with it and be pretty effective, but the VAST majority of the time you just want to full auto. It does let you run a shotgun or unkitted sniper or something in your other weapon slot.

I'm not sure the map is "bigger". It may be, but not by the amount people have guessed. I think because it's geographically separated into big swaths rather than one long continuous zone like the previous map that people think it's bigger. Kind of like trimming your pubes to make your junk look bigger. I'm sure some Apex Youtuber will find out soon if they haven't already.

Overall pretty fun so far. I haven't touched Ranked yet because I hate non-stop metas and campers. It's too early to tryhard. I'm still learning the map and I think about 50% of games I lose are because I don't know how to save my teammates (or they don't know how to save me) because we're on some floor of some building and we don't know where the stairs are or the doors or which doors go outside, etc. Map knowledge still building.

I had some clips of funstuffs, but the stutter from my shittier GPU is too much. I'll have to upgrade this week. If people are watching me play I shouldn't have to punish them twice.

Hmm, i'm having the exact opposite experience with the double-tap.

I don't use the scout, but one of my group mates is pretty much consistently kitted scout/flatline as his main go-to.. he finds that after a certain distance the sweet spot of the double-tap falls off significantly since the shots are spread too far.. prob around 200-250m+, if I had to guess. It is better to single at that point.. but in medium to close, the double tap is an absolute ruiner. Best way I could describe it, in which he agrees is it becomes more 'bruiser' than anything else. If you can aim, those two shots will melt faces v.quickly. Even in 2v1's and 3v1's, the collateral damage is absolutely disgusting and just makes it such a force in such tight spaces.

I understand where hes coming from too, from my limited experience w/ the scout; I prefer it within the close - medium range. I can noscope that gun for days, and demolish... buuut at the moment, the Flatline+Anvil replaces that juice, have yet to have game under 2k damage with that thing.

Eva-8 though, I don't know how anyone struggles with it.. We've literally been mowing people down, we're at the point where everyone in my group is essentially wanting the Eva-8 DT as a secondary, esp the guys that were R99 bois. I'm borderline convinced its OP as fuck. I mean, its absolutely useless in the between fields, but when you're moving around the indoors.. big oof.

If you want big laughs, run 3x charge rifle with your squad.

Other than that, now having some extra experience to report; Crypto's drone is stupid easy to take out. If you're having trouble, just get a shotgun and shoot in its general direction, given its trying to be in that 30m scan distance.. It. will. die. It really comes down to the pressure that is coming down on the enemy team, and if they can afford to take the effort to focus it.. or really tricky drone play from the Crypto.

edit; reddit consensus I guess is banking on Lv3 Bolt Eva-8 is better than Ev-8 dt, or utilizing dt while lv3 is a dps loss.

Personal discord, I think we are trying to get a small community of players going for climbing rank; so we don't have to deal w/ 1 random, or solo queuing. Also, norms queues too. If you got friends and such, they're welcomed. Most of us kissed Diamond nonchalantly, and may try to Apex climb. A few us of have alts, and not all of us are good. Just playing w/ Rando's ain't fun. One of the guys playing is og FoH, so eq brethren.

This is definitely my go-to season. Crypto has been a lot of fun just calling out, and being a safety net for a team.. the map is super open/range oriented.. Charge rifle seems abit too strong, maybe toning the drop on the TT or Longbow w/ attachments I'm actually finally having fun w/ the game. I didn't get diamond cus scheduling in the final grind week when everyone was making the push, but was Plat 1.

Well 500 dollars of a potential 700 dollar upgrade to my system, and I can finally stream this thing and it's not a choppy mess! Except I have to play at 60FPS locked and 60hz and there's screen tearing like a fucking porno vhs after 8 years.

Randoms just do the stupidest shit. And for whatever reason my mic won't work with Origin. It feels good knowing my $100 mic doesn't work, but Billy Bob's $15 clip on from Kmart works fine.

This is the maddest I've been at the game, probably ever. Outside dying to being caught on loot boxes a couple dozen times.

DAmn right it is. I simply dont understand these comments from gaming sites that keep hammering that the BR market is saturated. There is still so much place for innovation.

I think it was shroud who said it best. Any shooter releasing without a BR is gonna be dead, fast. Just do it with a new flavor. Theres no place for comments like “yet another br”. Br is the new way to
play mp shooters. Did we say “yet another ctf game” back in the days? No. Your shooter was fubar if it didnt include one.
Quality br games are rare as fuck.

My guess is a lot of us with that ideology will greatly enjoy Diablo 4.

After taking a season off and coming back for Season 3, it seems to me that Respawn has hit it's stride with Apex. This Shadowfall is way fun and the new map in regular mode is nice.

New play mode is pretty cool. I feel like I'd rather be slightly tankier than fast, but it is what it is. Think the pro move is to land on the out of bounds then just fucking drop a Peoples Elbow from the top rope to gib people:

Found some stuff I didn't clip, but annoyed me recently. Gibraltar currently the only character that can take TWO Kraber shots. I hit him for 145 through his overshield, then immediately 123 in the legs. He had 7 health left. Also had a bug today where I couldn't switch to my other weapon and was forced to reload my current weapon. I'd say it was just user error but at one point I literally said in my mind "okay, just switch your weapon and shoot him twice. Why. Why can't. What?" then promptly died to a 15hp Wraith crouch-spammer. Felt bad. Some surfaces Pathfinder still can't grapple to and others he now can such as the buildings in the main city. You used to not be able to grapple to the sides of the skyscrapers, but now you can.
