Looking for recommendations on stuff like that as well as bars, events, strip clubs/strippers and all that type of stuff. Thanks brehs

Franklins BBQ;

Mid 20's.... 6th street has gotten trashier every year I go, but S Congress still has some semblance of what bar cruising used to be like in Austin. Honestly, I'd just get hammered and cruise the bars, some if not all of your friends are bound to meet some dumb UT girl, or a pretend UT girl down for the D. I still testify that Austin has the highest level of good looking women per capita of any city on this earth. It's amazing

Fuck Franklin's. Black's BBQ in Luling is just as good and you don't have to wait in line for 6 hours (although drinking in line is fun). It isn't like you can't get A++ brisket in any other place. I don't know anything about strippers and stuff but late night Barton Springs Pool is always fun. Its open for free after 9 for a few hours so jumping in freezing cold water in the heat after getting wasted is always fun to me.

I like East Austin bars more as like he says. 6th Street is trashy but some nice pickin's there.

Veracruz All-Natural is probably the best taco truck in town and its near downtown (east side). But Torchy's is nice for tourists. If you all want to go skyjumping let me know though.

Sorry to necro, but didn't want to make a new thread.

For any of the Austin bros, what are the shooting ranges like in the Austin area? Anything outdoor worth checking out? Company is making tempting offers to move me down here, trying to see if I could bring my hobbies with me.

My current range in Dallas (TDSA) is very lax rule wise because it's a private range and the owner doesn't let just anyone in. Ideally would be looking for something were it's possible to move and shoot to run IDPA/USPSA drills, and be outdoor.

Where abouts are you moving? If you'll be north west (Leander/Cedar Park area), then prolly Shady Oaks. If you're in Pflugerville/Round Rock area (north east) then probably something like Reds if its still up there.

As for outdoor, you should also consider joining the ARC (Fun fact: Rick Perry is (was?) a member) for a good outdoor range. It's in the middle of no where in Manor though, but I've been a few times and it's pretty nice. As a member you can pretty much go anytime, and at off times, you're the only one there since it's not a public range and member only.

Bitching here because this is the only Austin thread really. ANYWHO, my favorite fucking neighborhood hiking trail Riverplace Nature Trail is now $10 an entrance.

What the fuck? This is more than most actual state parks we have in Texas and it's just for this one 5.5 mile trail. I guess the richer neighborhood it is in decided to keep the plebs out. Fucking dumb.

The neighborhood is way too far out for homeless people. Despite my initial bitching about it I am cool with it now. Since I can go before 8AM and it isn't like I go everyday. It's nice that the trail isn't super packed anymore. The problem was people were arranging meetups of like 50 people every single weekend which I understand. Very annoying if you actually live there.

But I am getting tired of being accosted by multiple beggars and people trying to get me to sign petitions or give charity when I walk to the train from work. God damn Austin.

Going to Austin for a business trip next week. First time there and I'm flying in early to enjoy the weekend. What's a fun area to stay in for someone that loves live music and wants to experience that scene of Austin? I've heard East Austin?

Alex Alex music is really everywhere. Search like https://do512.com/events/austin-music/today to see whatever is on the venues. In terms of venues they're mostly on 6th. Or at least that's where a lot of them are grouped.

East Austin is mainly chic bars (but not expensive ones) and I would say less focused on live music. You might like Rainey Street, East, and the 6th street walk everyone loves. Avoid West 6th as its essentially the yuppy drinking area.

I booked the Fairmont on Red River. Right by Rainey.

The Rainey vibe is ok, it's pretty packed these days at it is totally surrounded by hotels and apartments now. If you want BBQ, Black's BBQ is the best one in the downtown area. It's right across the Congress bridge on the way to Zilker Park/Barton Springs Pool which I am pretty sure you'll want to at least pass by.

The downtown area is quite small compared to the Bay Area so be prepared to uber if you're looking at getting anywhere.

Used to live there, but have not been in a couple years. Assuming Casino El Camino and Jackelope are still there, they are great bars. Both have tasty burgers as well.

Just got back from there. Fantastic. Possibly the best BBQ I've ever had. Unfortunately they were out of beef ribs.
