Living through the fall of a superpower, death of a currency, and an attempt to completely reorder the economic and societal structure is hard to predict.

Crazy. I know.

Damn, everything is way down... other than TRU?? Up 13% today. I mean, it's down compared to a month ago, but it's not exactly following everything else. Interesting.

And RIP FLOKI, almost back down to where it was before it went parabolic around the end of October. Wish I had gotten out closer to the top, but it was still a nice payday.

For now, I'm seeing how low things go then trading back into ETH and/or maybe MATIC when/if we hit 2700 ETH.

My personal buy limit is set up for 2100 for ETH, but it's a total gut instinct lowball. If we start to consolidate for a while I'll just snap it up at whatever it's at when it consolidates.

Ive got lucky with this kind of stuff multiple times!

I made good money off this downturn, but i always suck at crypto, thought we hit bottom a bit back and bought back in to ride the wave up, only it didnt come :(

Ohh well, im not too bothered as im in it for the long(5-10 year) haul, i just try to swing some coins on the big moves to increase my position without injecting more cash…..which i did, but it seems i could have done twice as good /sadpanda

Only thing I really regret so far is how I handled SHIB. Bought at the right time the first time, sold at the wrong time, then rebought at the wrong time and got fucked by coinbase. Now that shit is in hold forever territory I guess.

I sold ETH near $4k, BTC around $51k and rebought at $3.3 and $42k respectively. I had tried setting those way lower earlier but then they both bounced back bigly so I set my buy backs a little higher. (took months for this to happen)

All in all probably not worth the effort. Think I'm just going to HODL and accumulate now for a few years.

What is happening?

The know-it-alls are saying that it's because the Fed announced raising interest rates and that they will stop buying bonds, meaning they want to shut off the money printer because inflation is all over the headlines and Dems are worried for the mid-terms. (they should be, they'll get crushed) Rich assholes are very sensitive to interest rate changes and move their wealth to different assets depending on the current rate. Much of the printed money went into the stock market, and the trillions printed is why nobody remembers that the stock market nearly halved in a matter of days in 2020. This is also supposedly why tech stocks are down. They can't shut off the printer for long however, because the fragile economy now depends on it, so it may turn back on after the elections.

I'm old enough to know that experts don't know what the fuck they're talking about though, so who knows

Not all of them, I base all my decisions on this guy's advice and I'm poorer than I've ever been:

headsets and shit are just too cumbersome. no one likes helmets and holding your arms up while playing games is tiring. Vr just needs to be much more comfortable for it to take off.

Yeah. It basically needs to be like in Black Mirror, where it's connected right to your brain synapses so you feel like you're someone else, somewhere else, while your actual body isn't moving at all.

Which is its own brand of scary and not something I'm interested in either, but VR is never going to take off as long as it involves headsets and cords and all this stuff. I got a PSVR right when they came out, and within a week I was pretty tired of it and sold it.

PSVR has no porn, right?

I really thought this was a joke. It can't be real.

Each parcel (1 acre) costs approximately $1 BILLION.

And the only one unavailable/purchased is parcel #1, probably by whoever came up with this idiotic premise.

Looks like a probable scam, and even if it isn't... what a stupid idea.

You can plug it into the internet and watch porn with it, yes.

Obviously Sony doesn't have any PSVR-intended porn games for PS4.

But it can view porn. I gave it a whirl once out of curiosity and while it was interesting, you were still acutely aware that you were wearing a stuffy headset.

Like I said, VR only catches on when they ditch the headsets and make it some sort of synaptic implant. ...and make physicality a major component of it, like that Fighting Vipers game in Black Mirror.

I too was a bit surprised when I opened up Coinbase App a few minutes ago. I actually just made another investment in Crypto right at the end of the year, that was larger than all my past purchases combined. So when I opened the app I was like damn, then I remembered I have never sold any Crypto I just buy and sit. I try to think of my Crypto as my 401K Jr. Prior to 2021 I had not looked at my Crypto accounts for a few years.

Question: Aside from my infrequent larger purchases, I have been doing a small weekly buy for both BT and ETH. Should I stop doing this and just pay more attention to the dip and purchase slightly more of each once monthly during a dip? Thoughts?

Yeah, you have the right idea there at the end. It's better to do a 4x buy on a week where things are dipped than it is to do a 1x buy on 4 different weeks and only one of them is dipped. Store up your spare USD and make the move when the streets are running with blood like they are now. It's basically DCAing except smarter.

Now, if something is consistently climbing, like MATIC was for a long time, then straight DCAing every week makes total sense.

Edit: Friend of mine who made a ton of money on BTC has been DCAing a portion of his paycheck to it since like 2014 which he said was enough on its own to slowly accumulate wealth, but even he varies from that strategy. Buys extra during dips, sometimes sells spikes and rebuys a little later, etc.

There is no way this shit isn't going back up sooner or later. Will it hit $100k/$10k? Who fucking knows, but I'm sure they'll hit their all time highs again at some point.

Bitcoin has another halving in early 2024 or something? Buy and hodl. (my BTC buy order I had from over 30 days ago went through at $42k) MATIC is the only thing that's still sticking that I have a buy order left open for. )

The Bitcoin halving of 2024 should be followed by another large surge, just like every other halving. 2025 should be a big year for people who held over time.

Well, I fucked up with SHIB myself and I'm down something like two-thirds from where I was in October. I didn't even buy it at the top, or even close to the top (about 7100, ATH was 8800). However the long journey of Dr. Strangelove's plummeting bomb has just completely negated all of the gains I made over this past year and with SHIB at under 3000 I'm closing in on being back where I started a year ago financially, with around a third of my ATH.

I'm sure SHIB will have a big rebound whenever I sell but I don't care anymore, I'm staying in the main 3 from now on since that's what made me money in the first place. (I consider Polygon to be #3). It'll take me months to get back to where I was pre-SHIB, maybe most of the year, but whatever. At this juncture I just want to be in good shape for 2025.

This is a terrible time to sell anything since SHIB is bottomed-out, but so is ETH, so there's an opportunity here. If I wait to sell, maybe SHIB goes back up, but ETH has more likelihood of going back up first.

Dropping SHIB at 2800, getting ETH at 3000, leaving it the fuck alone after that and it can do whatever it's gonna do. Hell I hope ETH goes down more short-term so you guys (and I) can buy more of it. On one hand I'm kind of pissed-off about SHIB, on the other hand I'm really glad to be rid of this source of stress. What a goddamn disaster.
