Black Adam (2021)

It's interesting that this movie is somewhat being billed as a cornerstone of the future of DC and the Rock has a ton of control, but even the more optimistic tracking estimates have this at a $75 million opening weekend for the top end, on a 180-200 million budget. Even if it has long legs, it would probably struggle to hit $200 million domestic. He certainly has international appeal and it'll probably be fine overall but that seems pretty far from something you'd want your Iron Man equivalent to be. It won't even come close to the oft-derided 2016 Suicide Squad if the estimates are even remotely close. Plus, it's not really close enough to the holidays to coast on that (something BP2 will surely benefit from).

I personally expect it to go over that top end estimate, just based off a gut reaction (not knowing reviews yet), but I'm surprised the way the industry sees it.

I'm going to see it regardless, maybe they think it's going to be their Deadpool hit. I feel like Fate is going to be barely in the movie

domestic total $135m – $163m from $135m – $175m

cinelytic/variety project $328m

shazam did $53m and $140 domestic and $223 international with $85m budget.
venom2 did $90m opening and $213 domestic and $288m international with $110m budget.
would think it would need to do way better than both of them.

aquaman did $67m, $335 domestic and $808 international with $160m budget. it was projected to do $61m and $223m.

he doesnt look very black, there is some mixing going on with him. or was. he died in 2020.

Even with this being a Superhero movie and having the Rock, it's not a go to the theater draw for me. Although I like the Rock, If you've seen him in one movie you have seen him in all his movies. Also my lack of faith in DC atm just makes this a wait for HBO MAX watch.

I can't justify paying to see any DC movie in the theatres to be fair. The ones I did pay to see I thought were poor and the subsequent ones on streaming only became worse.

There are no review sites that don't get brigaded by one side or the other. It makes them all useless. I barely trust people here for coherent reviews. Lol

Edit: I haven't seen one glowing review for this. Most are just "blah blah blah meh Superman!"

looks like an ok cam is out, would probably watch it, if not for that logo
