The BDO Test server went live today for NA (only). Requires a different client, but has latest content from KR plus unreleased stuff.

It's definitely pretty, but being pretty was never BDO's issue. Pearl Abyss could have tweaked/changed that inane enhancement system if they wanted to really impress people.

That said, if you play, have played, or might play again, log in sometime in the next day or two for a free T7 horse and horse armor set.

Will I get more than 29 FPS in this remaster?

Thanks for the note about the horse.. Logged in to get that. then found that the 'returning player' attendance rewards include a kuku bird pet. guess ill log back in tomorrow to get that!

Depends on your rig, it's pretty resource heavy. The Remaster will definitely not improve your performance, the question should be: how big of a performance hit you're willing to take for shinier armor. I took a 20fps hit switching to the Remaster, my machine isn't bleeding edge but ran the game at 60-70fps on the highest settings normally. Looks great in town and for screenshots but I probably wouldnt recommend sieges or node wars with the new settings.

Still pay to win with the premium pets and shit?

I dunno if i'd say pets are pay to win especially considering how often they give out free pets, but yes the cash shop stuff is still the same.

Edit: New UI looks like shit, WTB option to go back to the old style (not just the bar in the top left).

The game is already the best looking out there by far. Graphics aren't the problem...the only thing keeping me from BDO is the extreme disadvantages in PvP when it comes to gear differences and there being hardly any group content. World bosses are a joke and people grinding together isn't my idea of group challenges.

You can switch back to the old UI.

You can buy the gear you want, so you if want to get rid of the "pvp disadvantages" you'll need to do more than you want to get the money, or join a low/mid-tier guild that fight against non-soft cap+ guilds. Though I think you've said all this before.

If you do any afk stuff in game, starting those back up for the next few weeks is a good idea as well. The event running from yesterday until Sept 12th will give out hourly rewards for the first 5 hours you're online every day, one of those daily rewards is 2 event coins. You can turn in 10 event coins and get a Shakatu Luxury Box. Worst thing outta the box is 25 memory fragments, but there's stuff all the way up to TET accessories in there. Looks like you can get at least 2 boxes before the event ends.

If you dont have any afk activities off hand to start doing, the game will actually grind for you now while youre afk. There's an npc in every major city that sells combat exp and skill exp books. The books come in 1, 3, 5, and 10 hour increments. Buy a book, click it, and you can attack a scarecrow in town for the duration of the book you bought and gain combat or skill exp (or both, they stack) while you're afk. It's not as efficient as actually killing stuff but if you werent gonna be at the keyboard anyway, any exp is better than no exp. I bailed on my Valkyrie recently and it's helped me get me just south of 60 again on another class fairly quick.

edit nvm found it. go to challenges to claim the t7 horse

If you get every reward you get 4 boxes (they might add/adjust one seal to make it 5) cause right now it's setting up for 49 seals total.

Even better. I blew up a belt and earring just before taking my last break, more boxes = more slim chances to replace them

I'm surprised at how badly a gtx970 handles the Remastered setting, frames aren't a big issue, its like the card can't render the effects properly at all. Yet, I switch to Ultra and the effects sharpen up a lot and the game looks very nice (frames tank of course). Even then though, inside a darkened area, there is a jaggy white outline around characters. Card can run "very high" now, but my god there is so much terrain pop-in that its awful to see.

Here are a couple images of how the game looks now, one for Remastered, the other for High. Default settings, High texture quality.
