My thoughts. The boycott is alive and well. They scammed some interest again by relaunching Vanilla recently. It's all desperation at this point. My jaw is still hanging open at the news they relaunched Vanilla during TBC.

They need to drop 10.0 on time in order to get past all this and pump the books up again (BFA and SL were still the fastest selling highest selling expacs of all time, that's going to be a water-well that Blizzard can revisit again and again for at least 1 or 2 more expansion cycles)

No chance of a 9.3
Fastest selling is another one of their BS metrics. We only sold 10 copies, but we sold them quickly!!

They would actually say how many they sold total and how many are subbed if it was ever good news.

Random google says 3.7 million in one day so maybe 4 million bought it and 90% have quit.

Anyone could write this shit, it's so basic and emotionless.

The thing is that it's always been like this, it was just cool worldbuilding and attached to great games so nobody cared.

Now they suddenly have pretentions of being an epic story at the same time as the worldbuilding and game fell apart, but they have the mental capacity of a child.
I'm more displeased by the lack of lip syncing in these cutscenes. Looks like budget TBC era machinima.

Did ActiBlizz's entire cinematics team get the boot?

They had to choose between boycotting, politics and work every day. It's pretty obvious which decision was made.

At least they get the gamer lingo somewhat right:

I disagree with one of his points: from the getgo, it was clear this was a moba model. He talks about it like it was a bait and switch that went from shooter to moba all of a sudden.

Anyways, main cause of decline is simple: it got stale. They never really shook up the gameplay, people got frustrated by balance issues, and OW2 effectively cannibalized OW1 of any meaningful updates.

For me, it was Moira nerfs + no new content that got me to quit

The Overwatch rule34 will never die thanks to Blizzard telling people not to sexualize their game, though, so good job on that.

I wonder what percentage of Blender usage is for Overwatch porn. It must be at least in the double digits.

This is the big one. The game has literally been the same in terms of mechanics/maps since launch aside the addition of a handful of heroes and a couple of maps. None of them functioned any different than what was already in game(well maybe DF). Combine that with standard Blizzard failure to capitalize on expanding their IP into markets that clearly would have ate up their IP and you end up with a very stale game swirling the drain as ever more players quit playing.

Really hate how he focused on toxicity though. Toxicity existing and it being a problem is 100% a result of your game being bad and players not having a good time. Be it through bad gameplay or shit match making, players bitch significantly less when having fun or dont care about people bitching if they are mostly having a good time. Complaining about toxicity is always a deflection to your game being shitty.

Or why should you care about toxicity at all? Its perfectly acceptable to talk shit and berate people in the fighting game community, why should it be different anywhere else?

Id bet other IPs out there beat it out. The depravity of degenerates knows no bounds so ips like MLP or Pokemon absolutely dwarf OW in terms of r34 content.

Toxicity is a problem, but I do agree he overblew its importance in the game's decline.

As for the complaint about premades only for comp mode being dumped, that is tricky. Given the game was teams of 6, it would have been very difficult to keep a stable roster of 6 people to run comp with for a large part of the playerbase. I presume the feedback the team got was along those lines.

That's not why Overwatch died. PUBG and its subsequent megahit copycats taking all the casual FPS players is why Overwatch died.

I didnt find the game to be fun at all. I played it a few times then dropped it and never tried again. And I love me some FPS type shooter shit on PC.

It was definitely a weird choice for the leftovers of Titan.

I think if there's one big indicator that there had been a quiet hemorrhage of Blizz talent since the failure of Titan, it's the fact that they didn't steal the shit out of PUBG's BR game mode like they've stolen everything else. Instead, they let Fortnite happen, which is probably more directly responsible for OW's bleeding casual players than any unforced error on their part.

Overwatch is an unabashed ripoff of TF2, but they could've just as easily rolled out a BR game mode as quickly as they rolled out a DOTA ripoff had the leadership and the talent been there.

Fortnite is a crazy example. DOA on release, but a single pivot in gameplay turned it into billion dollar cash canon.

Meanwhile, the bluehairs at Blizz are busy constructing a safe place for themselves by renaming NPC's and quests.

It's not like Blizzard needed to trot out a BR game. CoD Warzone is the King of the BR's atm. Activision has that genre covered which is the part of the company that is well ran. Blizzard would take 5 years to shit out a BR game, and by that time some other new genre will have taken over.

Fortnite should have refunded all the retards who bought the $1000 whale packages for their original game, with a "Thanks for pumping cash into an abandoned husk long enough for us to pivot" letter
