Most of you probably haven't had the pleasure yet of watching any of their games, but make an effort to watch Baylor play if you can. Holy hell are they fun to watch. Just a ridiculous offense. They make Oregon look slow and outdated.

Winners and losers: Baylor is the new standard in offensive production | Dr. Saturday - Yahoo Sports

Baylor has yet to have a 3-and-out this season on offense.
Baylor is averaging .9 points PER PLAY on offense
They put up 617 yards of offense in the FIRST HALF against WVU this past weekend. They had 56 points at the half and they were already playing 2nd string guys by the 2nd quarter or they could have gone for 100 easy.
Baylor's starters have only played 8 full quarters this year; scored at least 28 points in 7

just crazy to watch them.

If Art Briles isn't #1 on Texas's list of coaching candidates, they're dumb.

1. They haven't played anybody even decent yet.
2. The Big 12 is hot dog shit this year.
3. Baylor has never won anything, even with RG3.
4. Briles doesn't give a shit about defense.
5. Briles better not be close to number 1. Only knee jerk, reactionary morons would suggest such a thing.

Briles has been a miracle worker at Baylor. That program was on par with Duke or kansas football when he took that job over. He's gone to as many bowls in his 5 years coaching(3) as Baylor had gone to in the 21 years previous to him(3).

His 38 wins through 5 1/2 seasons so far is greater than the win total from their previous 12 seasons combined (35)

He's a good coach, a damn good recruiter, and he's perfect for Texas. He worked his way up through the high school Texas coaching ranks, he knows every high school coach and program in the state of Texas, he's absolutely perfect for the job.

He's also a good big-game coach. He's beaten #1 ranked K-state, a #5 ranked Oklahoma team and a #14 ranked TCU in the last two years.

Eh, our defense was dead last in cfb last year and not much improved this year. Thanks Bill Stewart for giving us half full recruitng classes for several years!

I wouldnt put much stock in how badly our defense sucks balls. A team like Bama with a good defense would shit all over them.

Well, you're not getting Saban and I'm not sure if any other coach is definitively better. Dude has rebuilt 2 different programs from crap to respectability (Houston and Baylor), and done it all right in Texas's backyard.

I'm thinking 59-10. Texas kicks early fg and gets a late trash time td.

They are just the new version of leech's tech. The only difference is Texas and OU aren't super powers like they were when tech had its run. Briles is a good coach but he doesn't care about defense and a lot of his success is a product of circumstance. If he had to play against the mid-2000s Big 12 they would be a middle of the road big 12 program.

That's okay, looking at Texas this year, they don't care about defense either.

perfect fit!

Easily? Each school will need to sell 80,000 tickets apiece to sell the place out. That's quite a challenge for what is basically an away game for both teams. Not saying it won't happen, but I think it's going to take a while, it won't sell out fast by any means. Tennessee might be able to hold up their end of the bargain, but VTs home stadium is only 66,000. That's going to be a hell of a challenge for them.

The name I heard this week is the Pittsburgh Steelers' Mike Tomlin, who earns $5.75 million per year but might be willing to consider a top college job like Texas with the Steelers' roster aging. I was told a representative of Tomlin got word to Texas not to make a move without some more conversation.
I believe that would be a fucking awful move. Regardless of how the Steelers finish this year, I've been convinced over the last couple years that Tomlin is awful at actually coaching. I think he took over a veteran locker room with a freak QB who instilled a culture of winning in the locker room. As the vets have moved on, the culture has begun to shift and they've gone racing off a cliff. His game planning and in game adjustments have been very questionable.

I just posted that to troll the Steelers fans. In that report Orangebloods staffers basically named 6 or 7 different coaching rumors they were hearing from their sources. In other words, nobody has a fucking clue yet.

Hypothetically, Tomlin would be a huge name splash hire but I'm skeptical myself of whether he would be any good. Tomlin hasn't been in the college game since 2001. I think going going from pro to college is just as hard as going from college to pro.

I figured, which is why I moved actual discussion here. Thinking ahead, man. While obviously wild speculation, I don't think it's actually all that implausible though unlikely.
