It's a little easier to just buff her crit and then do elemental trick ( gives you the 4 elemental stains ), then elemental genesis.

Unfortunately this becomes mostly useless later in act 2 when you run into elemental absorb enemies. Lune is still the GOAT* of act2 damage though, you can just use lightning instead - stormcaller adds a lightning strike to everyone's hits which lets you sneakily bypass the damage cap.

* without cheese that is - I do not recommend because it will ruin any semblance of difficulty but if that's the way you roll..
The first two trash mobs in Dark Shore drop level 23 corspeo and have pretty predictable attacks, if you are good at parry you can pick it up early act 2 and then be disappointed when you can beat every story encounter by just having Verso shoot them in the face

im not sure that easier at that point. yes, a 2 turn trick+genesis is potentially stronger. but it requires a target to hit 4 times, and 100% crit.
the combo I suggest only has a level req. 22 skill points.
wildfire is aoe. also has burning utility.

100% crit is going to need 25% base, 25% burning crit(and a prior source of burning), and 50% crit from being at 30% or less hp. (or fighting alone for 100% crit)
or 50% base, and 50% from being at 30% or below.
burning crit is a very early picto. I don't remember when you get the 50% at 30% or below.
so you need to set someone else up to go before her. maelle can burn easy. which is fine. can even finger guns burn with maelle, then her aoe fire damage+defenseless hit. or shield break I suppose. but then have to self damage lune every time you rest before doing any real fight. not sure the best way to do that, prior to getting inverted, and "healing" her.

so, I don't think any of that is easier. even if yes, maelle going first applying burn and defenseless, then lune doing trick+genesis in 2 turns before the enemy can go, is more powerful overall.

Experimenting with lit skills now. dance is strong, but single target.

edit: figured out a different setup that sets this up very easy. most of this is super early too..
give lune all the solo fighter luminas. which are very cheap as well. rush, powerful, 100% crit, 50% damage, etc. give allies autodeath, and +ap to allies on death, and 3 burn to all enemies.
this solo setup probably works best for maelle as well.
with default 100% crit, while having 100% hp. can go full defense/agil, etc as well. making her tanky as well. I think this might be stronger then a full party in general.

Finished the game and almost all the extra content - I don't want to spoil anything, but man this game is a 33/10 - I can't imagine it not being GOTY. At a minimum the soundtrack is going to get awards.

Yeah I have it saved on Spotify. It’s so good, but I love that Flying Waters - Rain from the Ground track.
it'd be great if they just wrecked the charts and stayed number 1 for years

Okay, old man checking in here...

Can you play and enjoy and beat the game without the apparent super need to mix max the leveling/ability/whatever system... systems that get overly complex just rustle my jiminimities because, generally I want to play RPGs to enjoy the characters, music and story - the battles should be fun and engaging but not require me to have to have complete and deep knowledge of every aspect of the system - sure those who do are insane and that's awesome and I am glad the game offers all that for them.

lazy level = FFX sphere grid system annoyed me.

I do think one of the reasons everyone is responding to this so well is the Picto/lumina system is quite deep. it does create a ton of min/maxing scenarios.
that into the Action point system.

Although many do claim its a bit too easy to get super op. so, maybe its easy enough to stumble your way into being op?

mastering parry/dodge/jump/duck/dive also is key.

Here's a spreadsheet. unsurprisingly, "medium", "extreme", "greatly increased" is lies and not all equal.

you can play the entire game in normal/easy without having to min max anything. act 1 & 2 cap you at 10k damage every attack, act 3 removes that cap for a TON of optional bosses which are more difficult and require good setups but again are completely optional.

i finished the game and didn't know a huge mechanic in the game, that you can parry enemy gradiant attacks (usually 1 shot kills) and i just leeroy'd my way through them by auto-rez and consumables.

one of the more interesting things in the game is if you are really good at parrying, you can literally do 0 damage runs of everything. not only do you avoid damage with parrys but it opens up counters which can do crazy damage but only on a parry.

The option to min/max is there, but if you build for hp/defense it's very forgiving to take hits and having a healer in your party will let you sustain and breeze through story mode/expeditioner difficulties without much worry. The optional content and expert difficulty really want you to be decent at parry/dodge and/or use broken builds. I was on the fence with the whole combat system, but being good at parry stroked my ego enough on the hardest difficulty that I stayed engaged with it. Would turn on offensive auto QTE though if you want to chill more. It made practically zero difference in my runs.

Might top Utnayan not knowing how to equip Pictos until Act 3. The game pauses mid-combat to explain this new mechanic!

it does.. once.

then the gradient dodge tutorial is not in the "expedition basics".
and, you'd have to look at the left of the screen to be reminded of the right button, not the attack incoming..
And then the timing on them is bullshit. so, its easy to miss over and over, and forget you can actually dodge them, or think you have the wrong button or something..
I had to go looking, because I was missing them constantly, wondering what the hell I was doing wrong.
So I could see it.

(I was too early. don't hit it as soon as the screen goes dark, wait till the attack is actually about to land.)

Y'all shitty at parrying just download the mod that makes parrying easier. I sure as fuck did because I'm dreadful at parrying. Ain't no shame in my game.
