I hate to think how many hidden things get missed. An extreme one. In the prologue before you sail. Can catch folks fucking at a door interaction. If you do it 33 (34?) times they finally say oh it was a turn on to have you listening at first but now it's wierd and please go away. It gives you one of those max lumina booster things that are limited to come by.

I keep getting lost in this, it's beginning to really bother me. Just getting back from a fight I can be disoriented and end up going the wrong way.

Just play on an easier difficulty if the parry timing is a problem for you. Apparently that makes the parry window easier. Or just putting it on the easiest difficulty will probably allow you to face tank (almost) everything if you don't fight overlevelled bosses. There are even lumina designed for face tanking. If you find a boss that's one shotting you chances are you're underlevelled for it and should come back for it later.
There are a few bosses where parry is mandatory but they tend to be optional side bosses.

Defense in the game is actually really useful and if you are getting 1 shot by most enemies you are just not gearing or stat allocating how you need to match your style of play. Don't blame the game because you can't parry OR build right.

Resumed this game to do the stuff I missed in Act 3. Is there a trick to the Flying Dragon or just git gud?

Avoided this thread but have played the last couple of nights. Not far, opened up the map and just did the zone with the patchwork Gestral guys and boss with the shield? Ran around for a bit and beat the big Chromatic map boss guy with the anchor, and did all the fights at the Gestral Arena. Pretty much I just Mark and then Parry and make them kill themselves.

No idea where to stick attribute points so usually just stack Luck for crit and some damage stat. Kind of the same with skills, Luminas, and what not. But still early so not like I’ve had to game plan anything.

Maps are crazy. Cool jump puzzles, chat puzzles, oftentimes feel like I’m missing a lot though bc it is twisty and the look very similar trying to find narrow passageways.

Story and acting have been great. First game in a while I don’t want to play with Netflix or an audiobook going, and actually pay attention.

Cool game so far. Runs perfect at 100+ fps on my system at Ultra settings on wide screen.

crpgbro's recommendations for stats are:
30 into vit first. to help you tank hits early, and give you leeway with learning parry/dodge/jumps.
then 30 into agility. agil is op. imitative, and stacking speed lets you attack twice before the enemy in some situations. (esp if you use slow on them.)
then luck. "can also do 2 into defense, as that gives 6def, and 1% crit. its efficient"

the logic seems sound. he doesnt like def much. Im not sure if def or direct HP is more efficient. might be HP via attributes, and def via gear/pictos.
crit chance is additive. 10% 10 times, is 100% crit and always crit.
so crit is great, but also, lots of powerful sources of crit.

of course speed is king, like rogue trader. going first, and 1 shotting every enemy is pretty gg. never even need to parry at some point Im sure.

I just went 99 AGI and then luck on every char. Go first, kill everything before they move. In late game it can be worthwhile moving stats around to whatever boosts your weapon as the scaling becomes pretty amazing at high weapon levels.
Apart from weapon scaling Defence and vit are kind of worthless because optimal play means not getting hit anyway. You can put on one picto for 1000+hp if you want some buffer.
Higher level pictos give absurd amounts of stats too.
Having said this, stacking def and vit and facetanking everything feels like it would probably be viable at least on lower difficulties.

one tip i picked up on the platforming is, when you jump, to prevent the roll, immedately hit (r1) attack

Yeah, I finally got around to this one a few days ago. Really enjoying it. Earlier in the thread I shit on RPGs with a ton of story, but this one is very engaging. Act two is insanely long. Figured after act one, the whole thing would be like 20ish hours, but it's looking like act two alone is a good 12-15.

My only complaint in progression so far is the catalysts, where in act one it seemed like I got a good amount of the first ones, and the second (to level 9) were much more rare. I think since then, I've only found two of the next level up ones, and all my weapons have stagnated forever now. Shit, my characters are level 30ish now and all using lvl 9-10 weapons that haven't been upgraded since 8 hours ago. Overworld mobs might be the trick, but even then, it seems random if you get an upgrade, and then on top of that you can't target which weapon gets it.

The catalysts drop once you're in the right level content. The Axon dungeons will give you 50+ of the lvl19 catalysts and you'll start seeing the 20+ catalysts there too.
There's a merchant you can access in act2 that sells level 14 weapons.

I just got to the Axons, so apparently I could've just waited to make that post. Although, it's still a large gap between them.

I think their intention for the midgame is that you try out different builds as you go - there's not a lot of weapon upgrades, but there's a pretty smooth curve of upgraded weapons of different types.

It doesn't matter really - agi is probably the most generally useful, but the difference between getting 1 turn for each turn of the monsters and getting 2 turns for each turn of the monsters is pretty huge, so a lot of the time it isn't doing much past given breakpoints.

All the stats kinda get outweighed by the base stats from leveling and pictos anyway - even in act 2 you can get more than 50 of a stat on one picto.

For what it's worth, I went 70 agi, 70 luck on everyone as a starting point. You'd vary up some based on character - like Lune is desperate for all the crit she can get if you use her as dps, but doesn't care if support - same with monoco. Verso I generally used as a gunslinger, so max speed more than crit so he can go first and leave everything with their weak points perforated and heavily debuffed before the dps explode their faces. Def and hp came from pictos when needed.

You'll basically always be using "First Strike" once you get to late A3 and/or optional content, so AGI for the purposes of acting first becomes a lot less important. The problem is that almost everyone's best in slot weapons scale on AGI, so it's a pretty necessary stat.

I see many players using something to get more AP when they aim and shoot, which one is that?

I did unlock Cheater so you go twice per turn which is nice.

Kill all the mobs you see in the open world, I found they have a good chance of dropping lvld up weapons.
