invisible walls to keep you from falling off ledges.
except when theres loot hidden down there.

look, either we can jump off ledges or not. don't do this shit. invisible walls in the first levels, teaches you to not look for hidden loot/ledges. so don't fucking put them in the game later.
its the same as the loot or progression question. now Im butt fucking every invisible wall to make sure nothing is down there. this is not good design.

finishing up act 2. new op build setup.
maelle is just there to apply defenseless and burning. 25% crit lumnias for both.
monoco is mostly there just to have potier energy. +1-4 energy to party, with +1 ap on powered skill use.

lune is again the powerhouse. a lot more lumina required. respeced her to streamline.
typhoon is crazy good. typhoon,wildfire, lightning dance.

so thyphon deals medium ice damage on cast to AOE. and heals party. then, every start of lune's turns, does it again for 3 turns. (5 if empowered.)
and generates 1 ice, 1 light stain. it is 8 ap. unlike fire rage, its passive. it does not use your turn to do its effect.
with potierim weapon again, this is 1 ice, 2 light stains. which can empower lightning dance, or wildfire on turn2.

give her all the "on heal" lumina. rush on heal, +2 ap on heal, shell on heal, powerful on shell. every turn she will buff the hell out of the party. and give them(including herself +2ap)

energizing starts +4, energizing turn+1. gives her 8ap turn 1 for typhoon.
then turn base 1, energizing+2, heal+2.
benficial contamination for +2 ap on burn, or when consuming a light stain to apply slow via weapon.

cheater, start first, and agil in general means she will get 2-4 turns before the enemy.

makes the party hella hard to kill. fuels them all with tons of ap. and lune herself to dance frequently. typhoon itself hitting aoe for 9999 every turn also kills trash with ease.

I just downloaded and started this tonight, played through the prologue and got to the meadow. I need way more practice at parry and dodge at least on exhibiteer or whatever the mid diff is. I also wasn't warned that the main protag was fake modeled on Robert P but voiced by Charlie C. Now I have to go back and read the thread and start to Git Gud.

Also leave Ut the fuck alone, it seems there is much the game goes over once. Once.

I can't get onboard with the Maelle ending being wrong. It's only possible to consider Verso's ending to be ok if you don't consider Lune and Sciel to be people - erasing them from existence is obviously evil otherwise, and although I could understand the perspective that they're ultimately NPCs it's not one I share. I also couldn't side with Verso given how many times he lied and double crossed the Expedition. Verso being forced to perform for everyone is pretty sick though. Ultimately it's a sad story from begining to end no matter which way you look at it and so both endings being sad as well is just. That look Lune gives you in the Verso ending - man...

I get what you're saying, but verso didn't really double cross he just wants the cycle to end, if he double crossed he would have never helped you to begin with. At the end of the day Lune and Sciel are just npcs, the heartbreak of Lune just sitting crossed legged fucking hurt but maelle's ending is just her best scenario. She got repainted as a baby and grew up with gustave and thats the happiest form she's been (irl and paint) so she wants to preserve that... which is understandable but its 1000% just selfish.

Put it on storymode and change the setting to auto-click for your offensive moves and you should be good to go. I didn't have much trouble with the storyline stuff, and just decided I didn't have time for the optional super tough bosses.

Also, we may be old, but we're not bad at parrying. The problem is each enemy and boss just has a shit ton of stuff to fuck with us. If you click 0.3 seconds too early you are toast.

If this isn't game of the year, that will be fantastic news, because it would mean that 2025 was one of the best years for gaming ever.

If the soundtrack isn't best of the year, then that's clear proof the gaming awards are rigged ;p

Ending spoilers:

Both endings are a kick in the balls.

Verso might value Alicia more than everyone else in existence, but deciding that for them is monstrous, and tainted by his suicidal streak. 'But she's the only real person' is the kind of argument that makes Renoir a giant fuckwit.

Maelle, on the other hand, is obviously not pure of motive, and trying to 'fix' Verso is pretty evil. Her selflessness is questionable given she could just leave and everyone would be fine - 'but he wasn't serious and will erase it anyway!' is self-serving BS.

A random thought I had though - there is some vicious irony between painted Alicia and Maelle - painted Alicia is probably the most tragic character in the game, although I'd actually give a nod to painted Renoir. Alicia's whole 'he's not actually that much of an asshat, mother was just pissed at the real one when she painted him' - that's rough on so many levels.

(Thanks to all those that did spoiler tag) I just havn't had and wont have time to play for a while. Kinda fucked up way, it's kinda like edging reading/seeing everyones enthusiasm and having played the first couple hours, I can't wait to dive in but can't just yet.

At the same time, he purposefully let Gustave die, just because he thought it'd get Maelle closer.

He lied by omission constantly.

No one in the painting is real. Verso included. You don't kill the characters in a book if you burn the pages. Doesn't matter how real they seem to you. Would it have been more obvious if they showed Maelle holding up puppet strings at the end? Because that's pretty much what was happening.

Characters in books aren't self aware sentient beings, lol, what the fuck are you talking about? Both endings are messed up, but Verso's seems more fucked to me. Good on the writers for creating endings that aren't obviously right or wrong to all of us.
