i stand corrected. you would never know this guy was some kind of pervert freakshow just by looking at him.

BTW i didnt cherry pick that photo. there are no normal images of him. look for yourself. you picked a bad analogy, dicky boy.

For once, Chukzombi Chukzombi is right and DickTrickle DickTrickle is wrong.

But that's the point, tons of people see him solely on TV and thought he was just a great guy, even though there were signs...... The point is you don't know a person because of their TV personality, period.

It was also his charity work and connections , plus him effectively hiding in plain sight, as well as it being a different era when a bit of groping on-stage or offstage was relatively common.

Gerald Cooper is top tier reality show. I'd buy him a few pints anytime.

I thought this was the weakest season so far. The council drama was minimal, the shenanigans were minimal, and the message about the precariousness of farming didn't have the impact it had in the first two seasons. The S2 stuff with his struggling neighbor farms brought a seriousness that S3 didn't have. This one maybe went too far with him doing an hour of "work" in a full day out on whatever project with his two dogs and g/f. Seemed more like a window into his life than the sort of (manufactured, yet well intentioned) drama of the first two seasons. Glad for Gerald though.

Maybe the weakest but definitely not weak. Although they obviously enjoyed the animals in previous seasons that was dialled up to 11 with the pigs in s3. I felt their pain and loss.

I liked the little dip into regenerative farming and hope they go more into that in future seasons.

I enjoyed the lesser focus on council drama as there's been enough of that.

I like some of the simple educational parts like here and there where they go into specifics about whats affected each crop, for example the oilseed pods that were too dry so the seeds were falling off the plant pre harvest.
I like the shenanigans like their never ending failed attempts to fix the dam.
The animal segments are the strongest to me though.

Great show and I hope they make more.

Can definitely side with you on the animal segments. And how it did literally highlight the strange duality that farmers (and to a degree hunters) have to have where they love animals, and they also kill animals... And how those things aren't necessarily incongruent with one another.

We just finished it tonight (We've been learning to pace our binging around Chez Haus.) I won't spoil anytheing, but I will say I felt strangely emotional with that last surprise he had for Lisa.

Gerald's problem and subsequent recovery hit me personally as I'm in the middle of a similar situation. This is a great show.

I know that I'm slow, but just finished up season 1. This show is pretty entertaining, and it leaves me in a state of calm.

On episode 4 and so far it's on par with the previous seasons. The editors are slipping though as I understood Gerald on numerous occasions (they often cut him up to make him unintelligible).

I was interested in where they were driving around and couldn't remember what part of the UK they are actually in; so I looked up a few areas.

In the first episode they are mucking about in Gloucester (spoiler for the size of the map):

Then in the forth episode they driving between Gloucester and Oxford. Here is the Google Maps Streetview of around the 10m mark of Ep4 (it shouldn't be spoilery, as it's just a nice looking part of England):

Finally, the Google Earth Sat captured an insane amount of cars at the Diddly Squat farm shop for the size of the building (afaik the north parking is theirs too). Wonder if that's an average day:

Hmm must not have watched Ep 4 yet?
Sad!

The GPS system on the lambo looked complicated. I've set up the John Deere one alot and it wasn't too bad. I wonder if they just pretended to be confused because autosteer is farming easy mode?

No idea , I've never messed with farming equipment despite growing up around the area in NC where Tobacco was king (before lawsuits killed the industry). Clarkson was able to figure out autolaunch systems on sports cars so that may be for show. He certainly looks the bloated old man part.

The GPS systems could be a little complicated for a boomer. My mom has plenty of experience driving tractors but I'd rather take a beating than try to teach her how to use the GPS. Once it's set up and working it's easy mode but making sure it understands the shape of the field and getting it started can be a bit confusing. To be honest I was pretty annoyed with all his bitching about the marker wheel and trying to invent the paint system because GPS was the obvious answer. I was glad Kaleb at least mentioned the foam marker systems because those have been around for 30+ years and no one uses them anymore because if you don't need auto steer you can get a GPS that will tell you exactly where to drive for under $1000. My dad even had a system before the foam markers where you could just push a button and it would drop a little string of biodegradable toilet paper type stuff on the ground so you could see where you'd been. The GPS is just better than all that shit in every way though and there's no reason to use anything else.

There’s a lot of suspension of belief watching him bumble around. He plays the doddering old man well but that’s like 40 years of documented evidence showing his technical understanding of mechanical things. That’s not a complaint, the shoe is top tier and Jeremy’s great, but he’s still playing a character for the show.

I want to give the UIX designers some credit that they understand they’re developing four w farmers and not IT professionals, though when you look at those instrument panels you’d think they were trying to make it an F-35 or something. Then you see it work and suddenly you’re going full speed because oops there was no speed limiter or check before engaging. When he had the whole fleet in there comparing them they all looked overly complicated as hell.

Can’t remember all the specifics of Season 1 but I thought we already did the cow auction and buying a bull bit? Seemed like a rehash and confused me about why Jeremy still seemed confused (other than see above). The owner of Endgame was great though.

Lisa also seems to be a little Flanderized this season. Back in season 1 with the shop and fighting the council she was conniving and underhanded but seemed smart. Now she’s also kind of bumbling around like she has no idea.

The other thing is that they seemed to have no problem with the virtual fence collars which are a lot newer tech than tractor gps. I am in love with the idea of those collars and I'm seriously considering getting them for my cattle even though it would probably be an initial investment of well over $100k. I recently heard a presentation by a guy from my area who is using them and I felt like I had seen the future.

In season 1 (or was Sheep in season 1, with cows in 2?) they bought heifers for breeding at the AH, then rented a bull to stud. This time they wanted nearly finished cattle for butchering when needed (in the next 3 - 6 months, who knows how they really had the restaurant supply planned, since we already saw 2 other local farmers talking about supplying beef too). So, sure, he was certainly playing it up for the show, as usual, but it was different.
