Is Florida going to pay the $7.5m buyout. Listening to the radio tonight they were saying Colorado wasn't budging on it.

I don't think they should. It's not like he's this perfect target, and that buyout is ridiculous. What makes him a better target than Addazio or someone similar? And why wouldn't they just call Dan Mullen immediately and turn it over to him. I don't get it. Even Todd Graham would work.

Edit: Why not just go hire Greg Schiano? He's got Miami recruiting ties, he built a program at Rutgers, and he has NFL experience now.

The program would end up tanking all the way down to maybe 10 players on scholarship. He doesn't tolerate thugs, gangsters, or people who get arrested. Would be a good 7 years for it to rebuild under him.

Yeah, to be fair one thing Muschamp did do is run off all of Urban's thugs. I kinda like ole Muschamp. Hope he doesn't go to Auburn.

Joeboo, how many of MIZZOU's conference wins in the past two years are against teams with a winning record?

Well, Texas only has 1 title post-Vietnam war. No one under the age of 50 remembers any titles other than 05.

Number of national titles in the past 40 years:
Alabama - 6
Miami - 5
Oklahoma - 4
Florida - 3
Florida St. - 3
Nebraska - 3
LSU - 2
USC - 2
Notre Dame - 2
Penn St - 2
Auburn - 1
Texas - 1
Ohio St - 1
Tennessee - 1
Michigan - 1
Washington - 1
Colorado - 1
BYU - 1
Clemson - 1
Georgia -1
Pittsburgh - 1

10 teams have won multiple AP/BCS national titles in the past 40 years. Texas is not one of them. But to be fair, neither is Ohio St or Michigan. All three of those programs are quite over-valued in this day and age of college football. They have as much claim to "history" and "tradition" as the likes of Washington, Pitt, & Colorado.

Also, I didn't count any of the weirdass, old poll national titles like the Harris Poll, or UPI/NFF polls. If we count those, everyone and their mother can claim a title at some point, even Missouri, and...well no, just no. I only counted BCS/USA Today(Coach's Poll)/AP Poll Champions
College football should be broken down into eras. There wasn't a cohesive way to crown a champ until BCS. Also, if we are doing this seriously, all time titles are a stupid way to claim whether a team is a power program. This isn't the NFL.

Joeboo, how many of MIZZOU's conference wins in the past two years are against teams with a winning record?
Mizzou is 14-3 in the SEC the last 2 years. Of those 14 wins, 4 in 2013(Georgia, #24 Vanderbilt, #18 Texas A&M, Miss St), and 5 this year(Florida, Tenn, S Carolina, Texas A&M, Arkansas). So 9 of our 14 conference wins against winning teams. 5 of the 9 were ranked at the time we beat them. The only team we've played the past 2 years that had a losing record both years was Kentucky. our 3 losses were #13 Georgia this year, and #20 South Carolina and #3 Auburn last year. Mizzou went 8-0 in road games, 6-2 in home games, an 0-1 in neutral site games(SEC title) over those 2 years, oddly enough.

I count "vacated" titles unless it was some kind of mass PED scandal or something. Reggie Bush's mom staying in a house for $0 rent didn't make him a better running back. The game was played, can't make 60 minutes of football disappear.
Oh, I have done quite a good job making those 60 minutes of shittastic football disappear until fuckers like Joeboo bring it back up. Fuck that game, fuck USC, and triple fuck Mike Stoops for accepting the Arizona job during the bowl prep. I don't think any team could have beaten USC that day, but I wish we would've at least made it a game for 5 fucking minutes.

I'm too lazy to dig that far, but just looking at this year, Missouri was 7-1 in conference, 1-1 against teams with a conference record of .500 or better. Interestingly enough, Missouri winning could have been the difference in 3 more teams being .500 in conference. Tenn, S Car, and A&M were all 3-5 and lost to us, had they beat us they'd be 4-4. Not surprisingly, only about half the conference is .500 or above in-conference, 8 of 14 with winning records(it kinda has to work that way, since every team that wins is another that loses)

I know the SEC will never claim it to be intentional, but they do a really good job of scheduling whipping boys for the top teams as their cross-division games each year. Out of the top 3 teams in the West(Bama, Miss St, Ole Miss), and the top 3 teams in the East(Missouri, Georgia, Florida) the only ones that played cross-division were Alabama and Florida. The East teams got to mostly beat up on the likes of Arkansas and A&M, and the West teams did a good job of beating up on Kentucky and Vanderbilt, lol.

I think they have beaten two SEC teams with winning conference records in two years.

MIZZOU is a solid team with agreat coach. But, I would personally hold off on the boasting for a few years and a few titles.

Outside of being an AAU school, they haven't done anything brag worthy yet.

Nebraska hires Oregon States Mike Riley as coach - Yahoo Sports

Not sure if there are any Husker fans on this board... but I really want to know what the fans' reaction to this hire is...
From an article on SB nation earlier.

Riley, 61, has been with Oregon State since 1997, making eight bowl games in 14 years, with four ranked finishes. Pelini was often criticized for being unable to clear the four-loss hump with the Cornhuskers. Riley has lost four or more games every year in Corvallis since 2003. Pelini was also criticized for being unable to win big games. Riley is 4-21 against top 10 teams and 14-41 against top 25 teams in his career

Which is why this hire makes me scratch my head just about as much as when UT hired Dooley. While I will not do anyone the disservice of putting them at that level of suckitude, I still just don't understand a move like this after firing a perennial 9 game a year winner, especially when it's only been a couple of days.

4 in two years. 3 last year(Georgia, Vandy, A&M) and 1 this year (Florida)

So, out of our 16 regular-season games, we're 14-2, with a 4-2 record against teams over .500 (and a 6-2 record against ranked teams)

So out of 16 games, we've played 6 teams with eventual winning records in conference, and we've played 8 teams that were ranked at the time we played them, we tend to knock people out of rankings when we win, I guess losing to us is an embarrassment or something, despite the fact that only like 5 programs have more wins than us over the past 8 years....

I'll take it. You can only beat who is on your schedule.
