naw it's cool

no seriously, i'm pretty sure the rog strix only uses 1, 8pin and 1, 4pin motherboard connector and not 2 full 8pins, so thats just a half in there.
This is what I was assuming looking at it.

So, essentially that 4-pin sitting at 30 degrees is attached to nothing?

yup, thats common practice to split a 8, into 4 cuz early on when 24pin was not enough, they only needed 4, then team blue needed 8pin for their more power hungry cpus, so instead of added more wires, they just made a connector that could split to 4+4 (thats how it's called)

I agree with that assessment. It's only a problem if that is actually connected to something, which seems incredibly unlikely. Plus there are a lot of situations where you don't even need that extra power

if that was connected to anything his house would be in flames lulz, plus judging from the position of the board and power pins right under neath that unused 4pin should be a mounting screw to the mb (they wouldn't be able to fit a screw anywhere else.

Well, turns out that somehow I disabled all of my fans. Like literally every fan: CPU water cooling, GPU fans, and case fans. All in all like 10 fans stopped working.

Literally only thing I did was add a harddrive.

The only thing I can think is that the HD seats in the back of the case near a Coarsair hub where all the fans get plugged in. Maybe something came loose.

It still wouldn’t explain the GPU fans tho.

If they all hook up to a hub and the hub somehow got disconnected would explain it

Oh shit. I thought that was SATA power bc it literally says that shit on it and it looked like it was coming from the power supply looool. Thanks Lanx <3.

maybe use some electrical tape so it doesn't happen again, since you seem to be a unicorn in a china shop

Thanks for the input from everyone. I redid the thermal pads and thermal paste on my GPU and now I'm 14 degrees lower from 102C to 88C:

[edit] Lanx Lanx Also the fans issue was due to too much power to one SATA power strip. So I added another power strip to the power supply and I'm g2g.

my hurtz is slow, hlep

This is from the OP, from 2012. However uhh....

my hurtz is slow, hlep.....

Every since upgrading to windows 11 my PC will run fine but then on occasion it will start running slow as FUCK. I notice when this happens, the CPU speed is a fraction of what it should be. It does not fix itself on a reboot. Instead, I have to shut down my PC, pull the power cord, cycle the power, then plug it back in and turn it on.

What on earth can cause this to happen?

Reinstall chipset drivers and check power plan?

It wasn't power plan, but I did reinstall chipset. I noticed the CPU core voltage is dropping to absurdly low levels (0.921v). Shutting the PC Down and letting it sit and back on STILL does not fix it. I must pull the power cable, then plug it back in, and then it's fine at around 1.4v.

I'm running a monitor atm, and trying to see what on earth is going on with this thing and see if I can track what happens when it drops under 1.05v.
