If I was Daybreak and wanted to impact quarterly revenue, I would try to accumulate Kronos to a company run account and then consume the krono. I have long believed that SG bots and Rich Girly were Daybreak assets designed to funnel krono ownership back to Daybreak so they can recognize the revenue of krono through consumption.
This doesn't solve the cash problem though.
I acknowledged your points about copyright law, etc. My post was about the big picture: the soul of EverQuest and how a two-man team blew Dreckpaws' team of constipated neckbeards out of the water. This is a huge embarrassment for Ji Ham, Enad Global 7, Daybreak, and Dreckpaw.
The EQ franchise has been horribly mismanged since it was sold off to Columbus Nova.
I watched a good video from Aeth that reveals Daybreak has a death clock for EverQuest: i.e. they have a projected date when EQ will be no longer financially feasible. They know this because they are consistently losing players every year. The current court documents prove this, but the actual dates have been redacted. THJ just hastened the death clock.
So this proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that they had every intention of letting EVERQUEST DIE with no intention of attracting new players. That was the trajectory these miserable fucks were on. There's no backup plan. Like the greedy cunts they are, they were going to milk it then close up shop leaving only P99 and the EQ emu community left to memorialize EQ.
The corpse humpers gave us TLPs, which are sometimes a lot of fun. If they were smart enough to bake the best rulesets into the live servers permanently they could make the whole thing better and maybe attract more players. Make all servers free trade and make all gear equipable at 1 and grow with you. That would breathe life into the live servers.I just dont understand what they are trying to gain from this actual lawsuit. A C&D seems much more in line compared to the monetary value that they could recoup from what will amount to pennies. Time for their jobs so heads wont roll? Time till the plug is pulled on the project? etc.
Honestly, I really do hope the plug is pulled on EverQuest. I hope it does reach that "no longer profitable" stage. These bottom feeder companies have been dry humping this corpse of a game for years now.

Eh THJ proves that there is plenty of life left in eq if you expend any effort and talent on it. 20k real players, not a few thousand people each with 3-6 accounts like eq live. many of which were not part of the tlp ecosystem, hell half of them weren't even into the emu scene. You seem upset. Did you just assume they would support the game indefinitely?
How do you suggest they go about attracting new players to a 26 year old game? Honestly, what course of action do they have besides just milking it for more cash? There isn't some new generation out there just waiting for more Everquest. In fact, the original players are probably dying off at this point.
It's the longest running game still in active development. And the reason for that record is because these things don't really last. For as much as FoH likes to opine about "forever" games, that just isn't realistic. EQ is definitely abnormal and folks should be happy it lasted as long as it did in the overall gaming "zeitgeist".How do you suggest they go about attracting new players to a 26 year old game?
It's not even the longest running game in active development among the ones I play, yet alone all the ones that exist... I guess you could argue longest running from a bigger professional studio... but I've followed EQ for too long to be fooled by stories like that. It's the longest running game still in active development. It's also free... If TLPs were free I'm sure there would be a ton more players.Eh THJ proves that there is plenty of life left in eq if you expend any effort and talent on it. 20k real players, not a few thousand people each with 3-6 accounts like eq live. many of which were not part of the tlp ecosystem, hell half of them weren't even into the emu scene.
Sure they are drawn from the millions of former eq players who went on to play other mmos or just aged out of the college years and settled down with wives and kids and don't have the time to play a forced grouping/forced boxing eq.
Daybreak is embarrassed that 2 hobbyists proved that the game still had legs and its just been mismanaged for years
Quality? Ended at POP. I’ll even include Ykesha cause of the map addition. Can't believe EQ has 31 expansions. I wonder how many are actually quality.
Those TLPs are probably factored heavily into the overhead for developing the yearly expansion. I can see why they would sue because they certainly aren't printing money with the playerbase.
It's as free as every other emu running around out there with 100-500 players on it.It's also free... If TLPs were free I'm sure there would be a ton more players.
I remember GoD and OoW being somewhat interesting (aside from the retarded all consonants naming crap) and having pretty cool zones/etc and a distinct story, once they were both released. GoD was a mess before the level cap was raised. I honestly couldn't tell you what Dragons of Norrath was about, and barely anything about Depths of Darkhollow aside from Mistmoore being the final boss, I think?Quality? Ended at POP. I've dipped back in on the freemium deal a couple of times, and paid once or twice for a month to fuck around with the merc system without the FTP guardrails on everything.
It still generally looked like shit, and the lore was just nonsense as far as I could tell.
I'd agree that PoP was probably the last of the good stuff. Ykesha was more like a content pack than an expansion - it only added like what, 3-4 zones and the Map feature?
Even if they were smart enough to buy it, they'd instantly fuck it up as soon as they did.the smartest thing for them to do would be to buy THJ and start offering it to customers
i am confident they won't do that, cuz they retarded like everyone in the industry
Pretty sure the THJ guys are making that.. Think that's their vision of the dungeon finder or something?I always wondered why they didn't just make a server with new/different items and change the rare NPC spawns. So like you would enter gukbottom and not know where any of the loot was, and everybody got excited to check the modern equivalent to EQlizer to see this new stuff. That's the custom server I always wanted to make, a classic EQ+ server with new items, spawns, raids and tuned to be somewhat harder.
