Pretty lackluster weekend. Was hoping for a good deal on a new GPU and the only thing I really saw that popped out at me was the $200-250 7970s, but I was never quick enough to snag one.

My mobo supports both speeds but I have 8gb of GSkill RipJaw 1600 ram currently, if I buy 8 gb of 2133 to use along side, will I have an issue?

I really wouldn't advise mixing ram types/speeds, you could maybe get away with running them both at 1600 but why? If at all possible I would recommend buying 16gb of the 2133 ram and installing that.

I missed out on the same type I run now on newegg. It was 49$ for 8gb of 1600 same type. 8gb of this 2133 was only 52$

Edit: If I were to just take out the 8gb 1600 and replace it with 16 gb 2133 would there be a noticeable performance increase?

Similar question: if I buy a new mobo and RAM right now with 8gb (4x2), and I later add another 16gb (8x2) of similar if not identical ram, is there any concerns with performance, compatibility etc?

Curious why people even need that much ram. Unless you do a lot of gaming + other shit all at the same time. Though I guess gaming + streaming can take a bit.

Yeah, hence why I'm starting out with 8gb. I just figure that if this CPU and mobo last me as long as my Q9550 did (5 years), I might want to slap in some more ram a couple years down the road.

Funny you mention this because the kid at Microcenter tried to tell me that 16gb is standard for a gaming rig and that 32 would "probably be a bit too much right now but not for long". I just rolled my eyes.
