Caved in and ordered a 5800x to replace my old Ryzen 2600, as well as a 1TB NVME ssd to replace my current PCIE 2.0 256GB SSD.

Will have to sit on my current 2080 for a while though until this GPU madness dies down.
Solid, and no reason to let the 2080 go for awhile yet tbh.

If you can buy a 3080 FE at MSRP from Best Buy, it's definitely worth the price, it's an incredible card @ 699. Otherwise, look for an AMD 6800 or 6800 XT at MSRP.

Nothing else is really worth it at these prices, between the tariffs and the other assorted ridiculous markups.

I'm tired of looking for GPU's and need a new PC by Aug. Looking online, what site do you all recommend for prebuilt/custom-built machines?

Some ok ones running around - prices will vary

For 3070 this is priced decently

Now in my opinion the HP Omen 30L with the 5800x and 3080 sold by BB for 2k is the best 3080 prebuilt you can find

If you can ever find it in stock its the best purchase to me - If you dont mind paying a bit of a mark up you can maybe find one for +3-500 on ebay - can maybe offer as low as 2200 and get one - While i feel the omen is a sexy looking beast, at some point a month ago they got flooded in the market with the 10700k version so you can find pages of them on ebay from when MicroCenter had like 40 per store. I even had some people offer me BNIB Omens for GPUs even tho the HP OEM 3080 sells for 2000 or so itself.

My issue with the best buy ones is they never have adequate cooling options, you are better off customizing straight from the sites.

Got my rig ordered, latest ship date is aug 11th, sooner if they get a card in stock before then.

I RGB’ed the shit out of it too. Never had a computer that was all decked out. Looking forward to it.

Or you could buy a $100 case and take the shit out of the Best buy one and populate it in the new case along with a better cooling solution. I know its a bit more cash but suich is life in these times.

I got one from micro center and cooling is legit but it needed more HD space. SO I got another 1gig SSD and a 3TB platter.

Speaking of cooling, does anyone know what a decent CPU package temp is for an AMD 5900x? I'm running at around 42-46c just idle on desktop, and around 61-63c under load (core temps are lower, but I've heard die/package temps are a better judge of actual temps). That seems high, but I'm also coming from a 3570k.

Noit sure about 5900x but my kid is got the 3800x and the fuicking thing cooks. Temps seem to be inline with yours maybe a little more when hes gaming, but this is with a 212 evo. His room is the hottest in the house, lol :D

I was thinking of ordering him one of those AIOs soon, it wont decrease the room temp but im sure it will help his proc.

edit: Here is mine which is a i7 11700 which also seems to run hot too from reading about it. But I got an AIO, a cooler master 240mm And when gaming I can feel the thing just extruding heat like a heater. This is right now idle...

Depends the Omen w/ 3080 and 5800x for sub 2100 total with a swapped in AIO is still less than 2200 vs most of all the other sites will charge you.

or

my 5950x can get as high as 65c after a couple hours of gaming with a few programs running in the back 24/7 - then again my PC is running 24/7 with a custom loop

My 3080 runs at 70c w a full load for hours.

40c - 60c is beans.
