Given where you are coming from, the 270K Plus / 5070TI is going to be an amazing upgrade, and everything you are buying can be brought forward to a newer Intel or AMD build aside from the mobo and CPU.

Sometimes I'm as guilty as the next guy on focusing too much on Benchmarks, but in real-world gaming and productivity usage, the 270K Plus is only 5-10% behind AMD's X3Ds for gaming and about the same 5-10% behind AMD's 16c/32t CPUs for productivity. With a 5070TI as you increase the resolution and graphics settings, it will be a lot closer to the 5% mark than 10%.

In the current market, X3D does allow you to base spec the RAM speed with a very small performance decrease (1-2%), whereas Intel really wants and needs fast memory for the best gaming performance. In that same theme, Gen 5 NVMe drives are virtually no different than Gen 4 for real-world random read/write usage, so they are another area you can cost down. Or at least I would probably consider a Gen 4 drive with high random read/write performance for the OS drive and the Gen 5 drive for gaming where the ~2x sequential read/write speeds might help a little.

Next gen Intel gets their own version of X3D, 3 CPU generations promised on the same socket, and a very large large core/thread count increase, so it will be better that the 270K Plus in every way. I'd expect it to match or beat current Zen 6 for gaming (though again at higher resolutions/settings on anything other than a 5090, the difference will be small) and it will solidly trounce the current 16c/32t AMD lineup. AMD needs a better IMC (major reason why non-X3D Zen 5 wasn't a big upgrade) and will compete with 12c/24t CCDs for 24c/48t at the high end, with all 24 cores being the the full core rather than Intel's hybrid with 3 types of cores.

I just built a system with that cpu and I'm loving it. Noticeably better than my 7700x, and don't have any timing ram issues like I have had with AMD. Intel finally pulling heads out of asses, only downside is it's on a dead socket, but really wgaf.
Every socket is a dead socket in Intel land.

They used to future proof their profits, but they're even failing at that now.

Does AM4 qualify as undead at this point?
I think so?? Because they rereleased some cpus. I'm not some brand loyalist or think they did this to be altruistic or anything but that's just pro consumer for me .

I work with all the cpu vendors at a capacity most don't and AMD is the best to work with. Intel i actually can't imagine being any worse, like bottom of the barrel support.

Over 2 years with ZERO problems with my PC and yesterday I come home to the PC running but monitor blank/on standby. Hard reset, PC boots and goes to Windows Restarting with a quick flicker to Windows Updating before the screen blanks out again and goes on standby.

Fuck my ass.

Yeah, havent tried the basic troubleshooting yet cause I barely have time to use my PC in any manner :(

Good luck. No clue what you have in your system, but if you have an AMD video card (I do) - Windows Update will sometimes overwrite your drivers with older ones and cause it to screw up badly, especially with dual screens. I haven't been able to use a driver newer than 26.1.1 or the display will freeze and the system will lock up. Its the hardware acceleration in browsers and discord, but they occasionally turn back on and then it will happen again. Doesn't seem to happen on 26.1.1 though.

Hm curious. Yes that's my setup, RX 7900 XT and dual monitors.

Well your problem happened to me last night - I have the same thing 7900XT and dual monitors. I installed 26.9.1 since I wanted to see if the problems got resolved and within a day or two I was getting the same issues as always. You can block it with a GPO (I can send you all the info if you want), but it was easiest to just roll back in safe mode.

www.reddit.com/r/amdhelp is full of people saying pretty much the same thing, it's been this way for years because of how microsoft is allowing their older drivers to overwrite what you specifically install.

7900xtx dual monitors I was having that problem with 1 monitor , turning off HW accel stopped it. FWIW I physically turn my machine off every night when I go to bed.
