Don't do it, I logged on with my highest character who I really quit playing a month into the game. Everyone that's been playing is WAY ahead of the curve constantly... the game is STILL just a huge gear grind to "pew pew big numbers wooo!!!". There is no other incentive to play unless you find this fun.

The updated graphics look cool though.. the game will constantly be broken with OP builds that shred through acts in no time if you got 25+million in gold gear.

Look dad I can farm EVEN faster now, this is fun! The game feels like sort of sado-masochist sweatshop simulator.
So you're saying the game is just like Diablo 2?

What game are you currently playing right now?

I ask because every online game on the market is pretty much based around "Farming to get better gear". The whole concept of every MMO is to make your character better at performing an operation which then allows for a greater chance at getting better so as to perform that operation at an easier level. Then when new content comes out, you are better equiped and ready for it. The difference between this game and many other MMO's involves play time(I can play whenever and however I choose) and the chance that a player can actually still make real money, even now, with this game if they get a lucky drop. I would also add that unlike GW2, this game has greatly improved since it's horrid release. Last but not least, if you buy the game, it is free from then on. I hated this game when it first came out. It was perhaps one of the worst releases for such a highly anticipated game in history(Duke Nukem is certainly up there...). Since though, it has greatly improved and only really lacks an endless dungeon feature with rankings that show how far down a player got to perhaps finish off the game(Save for an expansion of course). When released I would have given the game a 3/10. If the game had actually released the way it is now, it would have gotten an 8/10. That is how good the improvements have been.

What incentives do you want? Blizzard to send a personal escort to your house to give you a blumpkin when a legendary drops?

I'd really love an endless dungeon feature where you get booted out if you die. It would give SC players a somewhat HC player feel since deaths would actually mean something. Something similar has to be an extremely desired feature by pretty much the entire fanbase I'd imagine. Maybe not even tie the dungeon to MPs. Just like level 1-5 is always MP0, 6-10 MP1 etc etc. I don't know if it needs a leaderboard ... or at least I wouldn't care about one ... but simply from a "something to do" perspective I could see it being really fun.

Extra props if they blatently steal design from Disgaea and you could somehow level up items by diving into them

Biggest draw for me for that feature would be the lack of story/cutscene/shit to get interrupted by. That's the main reason this will never hold a candle to Diablo 2 for me and many other people. You can say apologist stuff like "but you can just skip it in 1.7 seconds!" all day, but it doesn't change the fact that it's jarring, interruptive, and shouldn't be there in the first place.

Fucking Jay Wilson.

I'll say it again because I don't understand the problem. Having popup boxes and the like does not jar me or interrupt me. I know when they're about to happen and I hit space. If it is a cutscene that requires confirmation my mouse is close to my numpad ENTER so I just hit space then tap enter with my thumb. Boom. Done.

I'd prefer if I could just WP around like Diablo 2 and kill Blood Raven then jump to kill Izual like that but I'm going to work in the confines I am presented. They've stated numerous times the game is state designed and currently Diablo3 does not operate where you can just skip around doing anything. So I'm not going to raise a giant stink about something that is, obviously, very complex to fix. Too complex for a patch it sounds.

Those patch notes sound nice. I'm a bit bummed that apparently the only way to save this from being too AH-centric is introducing no-drop, but alas. I suppose the "whee I crafted an upgrade" feeling might be close enough to the "whee I found an upgrade" feeling to have some fun with this. The dissappointment has somewhat cooled off in in the last 8 months.

Did they do anything to the level layout in that time? I really hated that you pretty much knew were to go in most areas, no real random feeling to it besides some tiles having a different doodad each time.

Other than unannounced server-side adjustments to the frequency that certain random quests or dungeons spawn, no. They have made no changes to the way the levels are generated on the whole.

Currently I am running MP 6-7 runs using a conviction/SW build, and I usually find 2 or 3 epic items per run....of course 90% of them are trash, but that's a different point entirely =) When I was doing MP0 runs, I would find an legendary/set item on average once every other run.
Mind linking your profile? I'm getting a little bored with the Paragon grinding myself, and could use some inspiration for gearing!

Man, I don't find any legendary, ever =( Of course, I can only make it through MP2 solidly and I still have no idea where to find organs, machines, keys, bear-asses, or whatever else is supposed to help get loots.

Keep at it, even with sub 100mf I find about 1 legendary per 2 hours. For farming though stick to MP1 on Act 1-2 and MP0 on Act 3 its the most efficient way to go. You can find that info as well as key finding datahere.

Did you even read my post? I didn't say it is fixable with a patch, I completely agree that it's not. That's why I think it (and the linear quest system) are the biggest things keeping this from being a suitable D2 follow-up. It is completely clear that Jay Wilson doesn't even understand Diablo, or those things wouldn't have existed, or at the very least would have come with a toggle to completely shift the game after your first playthrough.

I simply read your post, and said: "Hey that idea, which has been mentioned before, would be great. I could just play in that dungeon and never go visit the steaming pile of fan-disappointment that is the rest of the quest/cutscene/obnoxiously-not-fun-to-repeat game."

This is a noob question but has the game gotten "easier" since last summer? I was able to faceroll through Act 1 on Inferno but was dying pretty consistently in Act 2 when I still played... suppose I could just try Act 2 and see for myself but I'm at work and curious

Depending on when you last played they nerfed inferno across the board and then more recently introduced a difficulty slider called monster power. The base game as you remember it in inferno is probably monster power 3-4. On the default setting of MP0 the whole game on inferno is pretty faceroll with even the lowest gear levels.

The game is significantly easier.
