I'd be more interested in knowing how many people completed Inferno before the first big difficulty nerf.
That was basically my only fun in the game.

Izual and Diablo were 20+ minute fights pre-RMAH as a S&B Barb. I lost interest pretty quickly after that. I came back for a bit, trying to get into farming with whatever was popular at the time (perma-WotB nado) but it just didn't have the same lasting power as D2 for w/e reason.

Wait, beating Inferno before the difficulty nerf was somehow an accomplishment? I thought it just meant you bunnyhopped/glitched to a4 and then Tyrael farmed those spectres or whatever for the 800dps blue swords to fund a set of gear (or got super lucky with the rng and actually found one of the few good items back then).

I didn't do any of that, I just smoke screened to victory with really shitty gear. If you were a wiz or a DH I don't think completing inferno was much of an accomplishment, just showed you had some dedication to repetitively try shit until cooldowns lined up well enough. Everything was basically one shotting me from act2 and on so it was just a matter of killing stuff before I ran out of disc and timing smokescreen on hits and abusing the templar aggro/offscreen kiting.

For shits and giggles, that's the char I beat Inferno with about a week and a half after launch, might have a few upgrades differences but mostly the same shit(skills obviously different). Think I actually had less than 20k damage actually so maybe more than a few upgrades.

20k witchdoctor with no bunny hopping, expensive as shit repair bills, and is was frantic as shit trying to buy time for Astral Walk (?) cooldowns to save myself from going splat. Also, fuck dark-clone Witchdoctors and bear rape

Yeah, I did it as a barb, no bunny hopping WPs, no super luck with drops, little bit of AH luck but that's it. I was definitely undergeared for it, took a few hours with a break in between. Got him almost immediately after I took the break, just needed to clear my head and relax I guess.

I think his argument is it didn't take any real skill to beat Inferno since D3 doesn't require skill

Nah I was simply pointing out that a list of people who beat inferno before they nerfed it would be meaningless because 99% of the people on it either bought items off people who abused things or abused things themselves (and also because d3 doesn't require skill, just time/rng/luck).

Act 1 Inferno was really easy. Act 2 was like pound me in the ass prison. I gave up after dying about 40 times trying to make it through that first canyon.

I did it pretty legitimately, although I did have to death-roll through a couple areas in Act III. It was hard as shit, even as a DH. Basically any time you got hit in Act2-4 you were instantly dead by anything. Izual was such a goddamn asshole in Inferno. When I finally beat him I think I took a steamer in my pants.

This. People on here acting like they did it completely "legit" were either a DH, Wiz, or bought abused goods. There's no fucking way you got as lucky with rng as you think you did.
