God, the console version is just so broken. Each difficulty is
easierthan the last because you find a legendary with your class' main stat on it every five minutes. Normal is okayish, nightmare is easier than normal, hell is easier than nightmare, and inferno is easier than hell. It's so backwards. It's a little tragic because the port is otherwise excellent in terms of mechanics and such, they've just completely fucked up the difficulty to the point where it feels fundamentally broken.
Console D3 is one of the easiest video games I have played in my entire life, there's not a shred of challenge in it. Even if you crank it up to higher master levels, it only stays tough for a little while before you get spoonfed another batch of insanely overpowered items and can commence the facerolling. Anything prior to Master 3 is effortless, and then 3/4/5 each have a very brief window where it isn't just completely roflstomp (but mostly because the mobs have high HP, not because it's actually difficult) and then you invariably scale past so fast that I have to assume nobody tested it before release.
I think they should have chosen either the ridiculously high rate of legendary drops
ormaking it so every item you find has your main stat on it, not both. It's way over the top. I honestly think it was enough to just scale up the stats on items, they've increased str/dex/int/vit on items by like 50% across the board which is more than sufficient. The whole legendary festival just breaks the game completely.
Oh, haven't seen this discussed here yetThat was datamined on Friday. If true, why kill off life steal? With a lot of skills gaining scaling based on LoH(or adding TO LoH), I thought they(LoH vs LS) could be balanced. I will admit I don't like that LS can only be found on weapons, which might have added to their decision.
Because it makes DPS the only stat that matters. When your offense becomes your defense, you're free to just pour everything into offense without any need to balance things out. When people talk about their characters, notice how DPS is the only value anybody ever mentions or cares about. As long as you have just enough HP/armor/resists to not get instagibbed, DPS is all that matters because it does everything thanks to life steal.
Yes, I know barbs can get it on their belts. Fuck barbs. That is such a huge advantage. Oh, yay, I can regen spirit on my helm...
It's actually a huge part of what makes it the best class. Barbarians have a few distinct advantages that nobody can match: the ability to get 6% life steal without any on their weapons, the ability to get an absolutely retarded +18% crit chance passively, and 100% uptime on their speed boost. No other class comes close to this. This makes it so much easier for a barbarian to reach important gear goals (6% LS, 40%+ crit chance), and also makes it the fastest, most efficient class for farming due to permasprint. It's so overpowered it hurts. Seems they're getting the nerf bat really hard in the expansion, though. The diablo series has always had one class that was just infinitely better than all the others - sorceror in D1, sorceress in D2 (and then hammerdin once they introduced that teleport runeword), and now barbarian in D3. It'll be interesting to see if they can even things out a little or if the crown just passes to a different class.
