Diablo 4 / IV / IIII / Fore / Cope / Seethe

Watching Asmons stream for a few minutes, much like I said after the video the other week the graphics and stuff just don't really do it for me. That said, graphics and stuff don't mean a whole heck of a lot to me and they're not bad enough to turn me off of the game so i'll probably end up getting it anyways. Like some other people have said, worst case is I get a couple dozen mediocre hours out of it and that's it. Best case is I get hundreds/thousands like I did out of d3, d2, d1 and PoE.

Why are the chars all so ugly? D3 had way better looking chars.

I'm still early on but the story is actually pretty metal so far. The game is way darker than I was expecting.

Pretty good impression so far. I got to lvl20 and I am done for the beta. There are plenty optimizations can be done even at this level. I also feel like they turn up the legendary drop rate. I got like 7 pieces lol

My friend/ex lead work on that game. I was in the friends and family phase. I did played it quite a bit and I really enjoyed the world and story.

Graphically... It was hard to juge since there was so many place holders. I haven't checked the game today but I can't wait to see the evolution.

They ever sell out of their super duper limited “collection box” that comes with a singular fake candle and no game?

If anything I’m surprised how many are trying this beta. Sad that the biggest complaint seems to be the game feels pretty bland and I’m not even sure that was a complaint with D3 during beta but it’s been so long I could be misremembering.

Still on the fence about giving it a shot during release just for the story/lore aspect but D3 and Immortal damaged me so much on this IP that I’m no longer excited as I once was.

I don't remember anyone saying D3 felt "bland" or anything. The only major complaints I remember about D3 was how much they fucked the game over in order to push their RMAH shit by gimping drops so much that you had to do stupid shit like tyrael death roll to try and progress through Hell difficulty unless you bought a full set of $250 per slot items that were just barely strong enough to maybe do the content. Reaper of Souls release fixed that, though, and I had a ton of fun with that release.

I remember D3 got shit for having a fucking rainbow for a color palette. I also remember rolling my eyes hard as fuck over the "story".

Early on D4 seems to have rectified both of those issues. Gameplay is solid. Animations, art, music as always are best in the class of ARPG's. Don't believe the haters the game is worth checking out.

Took me about 3.5 hours to get in, got stuck on an endless loop of queue into a "authentication pending" thing which lasted for 10-30 minutes until it gave an error saying I didn't have the license for the game. Saw a blue post on the forums about it that it was an error message to help throttle the queue.... Strange error message to do that with.

But finally got in, and once I did I played for 5 hours. Played as a rogue.
1) Graphics seem fine. Runs buttery smooth, though now that I have a new computer with a 4090, it should.
2) It plays just as well with a controller as D3. Actually enjoy it more than keyboard and mouse.
3) It's very easy so far on veteran. Didn't come close to dying once. Am level 18 now, never grouped. Though as others mentioned, ranged seems almost broken at times. I can clear out rooms before I enter them, especially now that arrows explode things.
4) UI, drops (loot) it all just looks very D3? Might be in the minority, but I don't like that every item is the same size in the inventory. Give me my inventory management POE style.

Hope for release is that they either up the difficulty, or let you start at a higher tier earlier. Not the worst impression once I actually got to play it. Though might end up doing what I did with D3. Play it for the story, the never play it again. Hopefully the story is much better in D4.

Why does everything have to be 1 or 0?

I played the fuck out of D3 at release and in various seasons over the years since. Doesn't mean I loved everything about it. It was simply a fun ARPG.

D4 seems to fix a lot of the complaints I had with 3 while keeping the best gameplay of any ARPG out there...
