I downloaded it, made it to maybe level 20 as a druid, got bored and uninstalled. More upset that the size of the game apparently ate up a dumb amount of monthly bandwidth caps
Yep, that was my exact same experience with the dogshit that is D4.

The controls are the most responsive, the movement feels fluid, the combat feels the best, the onscreen feedback is the most informational, etc.
Bah, both POEs, shit all over this game. The game play of D4 is severely lacking. The build up and spend combat for every class is trash, and not fun. The gearing and crafting system is also trash. End game is boring. Lack of any build diversity. Shit, even Grim Dawn does everything better than this game and its like 10 fucking years old now. Even Last Epoch, which I dont even like, is better than this, and cheaper. So many man hours spent to make this trash too. Its a shame.

I know, "My game is better than your game" arguments, lol. I mean, have fun if you like this.

Look, a pox on all of their houses, to be honest; I am not a fan of anyone's game, although I like Eleventh Hour the best, it seems. I had/have a lot of fun with Last Epoch, I loved the hell of out of Grim Dawn, I probably played POE2 too early but to be frank have never been the biggest fan of the unified skill matrix whatever but the POE games have the most committed fan base so taking nothing away from POE/POE2. I think I called POE2 "the Dark Souls of ARPGs" when it launched, which I intended to be high praise. Given the power of a great drop and how easy it seemed be intended to trade for great gear, except that GGG saddled POE/POE2 with the most archaic 1990s BBS trading system possible, it literally blows my mind. Watching my ARPG buddies bite the bullet and then blow the doors off the game by getting geared by going into people's lairs or whatever? I missed the magic of it. Also of Dark Souls until Elden Ring, so there's that. It could be just me.

Back to D4: You can look back at the early part of this thread where I flayed Blizzard and the state the game shipped in and the first couple of seasons; the Blizzard that made so many great games, much like Bethesda of old, is dead.

That being said they had made a lot of improvements, both gameplay and balance wise with D4 and I am enjoying playing it, particularly since I don't have to play through the woke/hates the West/sacrilegious/borderline blasphemous storyline they have in D4; its open world ish enough I can just start each season now without engaging in the story, which isn't something that can be said of any of the other ARPGs mentioned.

If I want to build character in RL, I will go back to cross-training; ARPGs is not where I go grind my life away. D4 has enough complexity/fun factor for the moment, and when that clock stops, or someone else improve upon the formula for me, so will I.
