Anyone with 5+ points into The Pit tree want to test something?

First, have the tree setup so you're using the 4 points necessary to activate Choron's Flesh (middle tree). Make a run, see if it spawns (will be a pedestal near the Glyph thing). While having at least 1 glyph upgrade point remaining, use Choron's Flesh (if it spawned). See if it uses the Glyph currency OR if it used Artificer's Stones.

Second, with Choron's Flesh still active, use a point to activate Choron's Wager. Check your currency for how many Artificers Stones you have. Do a run, see if Choron's Wager spawns during the run, it will be a pedestal similar to the Horadric pedestal thing that takes you to that Horadric Vault place. If it spawns, use it to get the Challenge. If you succeed, check the Artificers Stone amount you now have. Also, after defeating the Guardian, see IF the Choron's Flesh spawns.

For me, the Choron's Flesh hasn't spawned since I activated Choron's Wager. My Wager for the one run its spawned so far was to kill 100 mobs without using a potion. I never got a notice saying I completed it, but I didn't check how many stones I had before or after. Also, the tooltip for Choron's Flesh is apparently wrong; it says using the Flesh will cost 1 of your Glyph upgrade attempts, but it doesn't. It just uses Artificers Stones, as long as you have at least 1 Glyph upgrade available.
I do have a point in wager but nothing in flesh or anything else. The couple i've gotten have been to kill 100 mobs without a pot or without evading type stuff. It completes super fast usually (sometimes I question if it gets to the 100 mobs or if it's completing after like 20). The stones drop and get auto picked up super fast too, it will put a little loot text on the screen where it fell and got looted. I know in one run, I had enough stones to do the wager but not enough for the machine things that cost 25, and after doing the wager I had enough to use the machine, so it definitely gives you stones.

I bought the base pack for $70 worth of Blizz bucks from wow and I felt I got my money’s worth. It took paladin and a few of my friends saying it was actually pretty good for whoever was asking if this is good. But I also think this forum is jaded even when we have fun.

If you didn't play the first expansion, it's pretty much a no brainer. It's essentially $20 per expansion since you get both with LOH. There is a lot to do at end game now.

"got my money's worth" is one of the few constants of this thread.

One of the two things that matter to me when it comes to video games. Was it fun and was it worth the cost. Sadly some do fun at first, but then dives off a cliff into disappointment. So not a full proof metric, at least in the initial few hours of a game.

Dungeon (Seer's Reach in Skovos (Xpac) ) to get the highest pure color gems before using the cube on them on any Torment (probably). It's 99% royal, 1% grand or so. Just tested it for about an hour and still dropping 3 gems per kills. Higher torments get more good crafting mats, but its always 3 royal gems with ~1% on grand (probably). I count 143 royal gems before seeing a Royal, but others have reported better returns.

Quick zone, once you get to know it. Run directly to boss then use port to dungeon entrance in "emotes" menu (R hotkey default).

I got the ultra nemesis boss portal to spawn earlier when I was farming a better Deathgrip. Got the special portal for 2 bosses, then it proced the next portal for 2 greater bosses. After that there was the item to activate the super portal with 5 belial husks but since I didn't have the point in it I thought I wouldn't be able to do it, but it was clickable(saying you need the point to use it), so I went back to town, respeced into it, and it worked and let me kill the 3 boss fight for 10 boxes worth of loot. I had to do like 7trips to town to salvage all the uniques during that thing, got a mythic and a ton of ancient uniques, sadly none of the bosses I needed spawned so it was all mostly for other builds/classes but still pretty fun.

Edit: Got another one but didn't have husks. At least I'm getting Mythics, ended up crafting a box after dissing a couple and got the Heir of Perdition I was working on so that's nice. At this point mostly working towards a weapon with good GAs, I got a 3 GA scythe and then I read it and it was 1H, so fucking annoying, and all the good 2H I've found have been legendaries.

Is this expansion good or did all the streamers blizzard checks clear

It blew the doors off Vessel of Hate, ratings wise. The reviews are pretty accurate.

Can't compare this to last expansion at all. It's the complete game. You won't hear about POE as much anymore.

Yea, the Wager works fine for me too. What doesn't seem to work is having Flesh activated along with anything else. I haven't seen the Flesh pedestal spawn if Wager is activated.

No, that's the goal of any transaction, of which most fun activities are a part of. But, the common answer in this thread seems to jump straight to monetary value and skips the subjective fun.

at the end of the day that’s what it boils down to though. “Is x product worth it?”. Subjective fun and monetary value are directly related to one another here. It’s why we wait for some games to be on sale rather than full price.

the value is also subjective here. What I find to be a good deal and get my moneys worth out of, may not be the same as yours. To me, this game will be worth the full price, I’ll get my moneys worth (probably), but others won’t because they value their time differently.

At any rate, this could just keep going in circles, it’s a scemantics argument at best.

It is a reasonable concern when the competition is cheaper. I don't buy that many games new so 70 euros is a pretty big amount to spend so I would consider its monetary value too, not just is it fun, but more like for how long. This is generally something people say when they got what they feel is a reasonable amount of fun with it, without being a game they play for 3 thousand hours or for the next 6 years. I could see myself playing it again for a future season here and there without being the best game I've ever played, and so far I'm having enough fun that the high price tag isn't a concern anymore, but it was a consideration before I picked it up because I can buy games for a third of that price that are also very good.

I’ll break it down. I felt compelled to come back to this. I did not PoE2 - I never felt that one grabbed me. PoE1 was too much time investment for other things going on in my life and I was tired of buying MTX only to watch them dumpster skills (yes I know meta can get stale). I didn’t think Sirus or any of the new bosses captured the magic of shaper/elder. My time had come. D4 scratches the PoE/D2 in a more casual way much better than LE despite their efforts, which often seemed Dollar General level.

That's great, thanks.

ARPGs are the single player buffets of video games, getting your money's worth has *some* value, but not much. It's like asking "how is the food" and getting the response "I'm full".

What is that itch exactly? For me, it's builds and D4 lack of depth means it can't do that for me. POE2 has the same issue.

For me it’s just mindless slaughter with some. Depth or, perhaps more apt, variety. PoE has depth in spades. And maybe variety league to league on builds and in spades on content. D4 has just enough of each to not be 100% brain dead while also allowing me to be brain dead when I want to be. It’s just enough loot treadmill to eat up 2-3 weeks casually.

With at most 1-2 hours to play every other night, PoE leagues felt like a slog. And that’s fine. I didn’t whine (too much) for the game to change other than obliterating skills I spent money on MtX for. Even then I sorta get it. D4 is a higher quality more casual ARPG than LE which had apparent but not real depth.

I’m in a different spot in life compared to when I was deep in PoE. It’s why a hardcore raiding MMO or even casually doing classic WoW turns me off now. I have kids, I have a higher responsibility job - both prone to unpredictability. I have other things I want to do. My time with hardcore league based or “seasonal”’games like PoE or even mythic raiding is gone.

So don't play. Go to your comfort zone of PoE, where you have 5k post in the thread and obviously love the game and play it fanatically. Instead of just slinking into here looking to nitpick posts or something I dunno, definitely not talking about the game.

I'll never understand that aspect of gamers. It's as if they take it as a personal insult people enjoy something they dont, or they dont enjoy the things they do. It's so weird. Granted now that I think about it, not really just a gamer thing, humanity in general on any number of topics. Guess that animal pack mentality never really faded from evolution.

It's fun, definitely in short bursts (aka a few weeks twice a year). So yeah value for $ is a compelling argument because one would assume if that's your argument, you get xtime+xfun out of the deal. I find it more fun than POE2 for example, but can't and won't play either for any extended amount of time and find both of them pretty stale after I suck 40 hours into a season/xpac.
