Well if you're doing networking you'll probably have to learn some linux, a lot of cisco/ios, maybe some sql but its easy. Depends on what you end up doing specifically really, looking back I wish I had gotten into linux/bash scripting earlier so I would be in a better position today. Imma get my CEH here in a month or so, stupid waste of time cert but it checks off a box and recruiters look at it. Then starting on the Red Hat cert path and might go for the VMware cert if I can stomach spending 3k on a fucking cbt course.
I"m learning Linux and IOS. I'm just getting an associates/CCNA/MCSE to start off with, then I'll let what job I find guide where I go from there.
Why VMWare and not HyperV? Maybe VMWare still has more of the market, but for functionality, HyperV blows VMWare out of the water.

I have the book for CEH, too. Is the cert actually good? Do HR departments actually care about it?

Yeah DoD pretty much exclusively uses VMware, it is the hotness. Problem is the cert will be a pain in the dick the maintain.
CEH is a bullshit cert, but for hiring purposes it checks off the box. OSCP is more respected but also more work. CEH will be easily maintained along with my CISSP and Sec+ so its kind of a gimmee

Well, not that it was incredibly likely anyway, but I think I'll stay away from DoD after that description.

Nah, you got me, man! You're the only one smart enough to "get it". Just like Phoenix and his, "price floors and ceilings have no meaning!" rhetoric he spouts, because he felt like he had an epiphany after watching a Friedman YouTube video.
I'm curious where you had your epiphany, Derpin. Maybe this will lead to your rehabilitation..
