In addition to this, the UI looks unspeakably bad with character portraits and skill icons looking like something from 1998.
I've been wondering since the first time I saw the game if Bioware hired a UI designer whose only previous experience was making Flash games for Newgrounds.

They said the character portraits were a stylistic choice to go with the Tarot card art theme, but they look bad. They should have just used the cards themselves if they were going that route.

Hell, the whole Tarot card theme was bad. Nothing to do with the story, Dragon Age in general, or pretty much anything at all. Just a random nonsensical style choice.

I'm posting semi-blind because I'm actively avoiding any spoilers for this but had to jump in to say this has been the most epic feeling RPG I've experienced in quite some time. Feels somewhat like Mass Effect 1 only with the slight drawback of plot elements from the earlier entries. It feels more like Dragon age Origins than it does the second game, but most of the callbacks in the plot seem to point at the second title.

Anyway I've been playing this in small chunks over the last several weeks, many times just doing a sidequestish exploration of a region without making any forward progress on the plot and yet felt completely satisfied with the play session. They really did overload each of the region's with waaay too much content, but that is hardly a bad thing.

Certainly this feels like a return to form for Bioware, shame the popular press Buzz for it isn't very high.

You kidding? This game has been hyped like crazy. That's why Utnayan was so butthurt.

I think it's deserving. It's a good game with only a few annoyances/bugs. Rare these days.

Yup, I checked my time played last night - 48 hours and only lvl 15. How much more is there after the winter palace ball deal? Am I close to finishing the main story or what?

UT has no reason to be butthurt, the game is not selling well. I guess DA2 really burned a lot of people and the DRM killed off the buzz the pc version could have created. All things considered though it's a much better game than DA2 (which is not saying much to be fair) but both combat and UI/crafting are a complete mess.

Oh and fuck off whoever decided that romancing the cute dwarf is creepy but being fucked in the arse by an actual bull (and his cross-dressing "BUT I AM A MAN!" second in command) is fine.

Piracy makes a game accessible to a very large user base, thus sparking conversation. The usual boards were pretty dead about Inquisition until Denuvo was cracked, a month after release.

You are about half way... actually probably not even that.

Where are you getting these numbers? All projections I saw predicted DA:I would outsell DA:O. For the first game on a new engine, even breaking even on development cost is a success since subsequent games can be rolled out at a fraction of a cost to help get higher profitability out of sequels.

bytes is just butthurt and making stuff up, it's done very well from Bioware's own statements exceeding their sales expectations by far.

How am I butthurt? I finished the game and I admitted it's better than the second one. Still, Inquisition seems to have sold a little over a million copies across 5 platforms in its launch week and then dropped of sharply. Might sound nice, but for a major EA title that's not that impressive, especially if you consider the wild expectations most publishers have these days.

The "usual boards"?

Yeah, you are full of shit. More of Supertouch "wah, I can't play a cracked game".

You're just an idiot. Nevermind I do own the game on Origin or that you CAN play a pirated version because it's been cracked already.

So we'll just ignore Bioware's own statements on the matter - and considering it's not Assassin's Creed or a FPS, over a million copies is a very high mark unless you're smoking crack.

(For other points of Bioware to compare against - first month, ME 2 - 0.5m, ME3 - 1.3m [a little over a mil])

Not to mention there's not a tracker out there that keeps track of "online sales" anyhow - so there's a certain amount of hit there, since almost no PC buyers are included and DA:I was actually an aggressively sold digital title for consoles. (NPD and the others are just physical retail sales trackers unless something has changed very recently)

Yes, I know a pirated version is out. However, your statements on this are full of shit. The game IS selling well and it taking a bit of time to break did absolute fuckall for its rep. Every forum had plenty of people playing legit versions with abunch of positive press for it. The few pirate criers like Supertouch and apparantly you didn't hurt the game at all.

My wife and I both bought collectors editions. Everyone I know with a PS4 is playing it, which is more than I can say for Destiny. It has a few bugs but it otherwise a masterpiece RPG with a surprisingly fun MP add on to it. In fact, the only RPG I consider better than this to come out in the last decade is Fallout 3/New Vegas. Maybe Wasteland 2 is as good a game, but DAI blows all of those games away in content and depth. It is amazingly accessable, too. Pick Nightmare if you want challenge or Easy if you just want to enjoy the story. I think it is the best of the series, though Origins has a slightly better story. It easily belongs up there with Last of Us or Dark Souls 2 for one of the decade's best games.

TLDR version: Go home bytes, your drunk.

TV ads for one versus the other proves that theory incorrect when it comes to EA/Bioware - if they wanted Skyrim levels you'd see Skyrim levels of advertising. Maybe some foolish fanboys did though.
