this actually sounds not terrible. Im sure they'll disappoint, but I consider myself piqued. A story where you play an established character is a nice change from the 5 million rise to power story lines out there, so it'd be great to see that executed well.

The part about the veil tearing and you being in charge of an organization is interesting. The veil/magic/demons is really the only very well done part of the dragon age universe. But everything else about immersion, graphics, scope, freedom etc falls on deaf ears.

Yea, they're trying to sound like they're skyrim or something, which everyone knows they wont be. Honestly, I'd settle for having your choices make some sort of impact. Too often I play games from bioware and my choices just feel entirely artificial or contrived and seem to have no real effect on the world. The exceptions to this are where their games are cool. More of that and less marketing babble and they might finally figure out how to make a game that isn't shit again.

I don't see one thing in that footage that makes me believe anything about DA:I. They could have said all that without showing one still and I'd be just as skeptical. Any actual gameplay? No. A fleshed-out description of an actual gameplay mechanic? No. Any new genuine information? List of skills? Breakdown of abilities? Locations? Enemy AI? Nothing nothing and more nothing. For this product, its all just smoke and mirrors at this point - the same strategy they used to sell DA2 as yet another "spiritual successor" to BG. No way dudes, not biting.

Yea, that wasn't terribly illuminating. I'm still interested in the game, and I'll probably play it, but that video did nothing to influence me. Leading a team of inquisitors sounds cool, but if the world is as limited as DA2 I won't get much from it.

Normally I'd say you're just shitting on the game. Of course there's not much, its still way out and they're just trying to build a little hype. Except this is ea, so you're probably right. I'm curious enough to wait for reviews and consider the game, but I sure the fuck wont run out and buy it/preorder before others have taken the punch to the jaw for me. Anything EA makes is on the permanent shit list.

You all are so jaded or just trying to sound cool. Face it, the majority of people posting in this thread are going to pre order it or buy it at release. Outside of Witcher 3 this is probably going to be the one of the best RPGs of next year. Not saying it is going to be genius but it would be disingenuous to just outright dismiss it. It's not like EA is 38 Studios or some shit.

I think a lot of the issues with DA:2 was that it was rushed out the door as soon as possible. DA:O was released in Nov 2009, DA2 was released in Mar 2011, which is like a year and a half between games, it's not surprising that the game feels semi-complete in that state. This is projected to be in late 2014, so with a three year development time I'm pretty hopeful that it will be an improvement over the last one.

I'm not asking for a new Baldur's Gate, but something on par or better than origins would be nice.

You must be new around here.

I certainly won't preorder it and if they make it another Origin exclusive, I will definitely think twice whether I really want to buy it, possibly a year down the line when they finally release the version with all the DLCs packed in. Last game where I caved in and bought it pre-release was Deus Ex: HR.

I will gladly pirate it. DA2 was just bad and let's not talk about how they handled Mass Effect 3; it would be very surprising if they've had a sudden influx of talent and common sense over there. Bioware is plain nuts these days.

Should just start making dating sims and get it over with. Its obviously what they want. there is obviously a market for it. Just fucking do it. stop trying to trick legacy gamers into thinking these are still RPGs.

Oh fuck, I'll have Witcher3 day one and I'll buy a new video card if it makes it even prettier. Sure, the series is far from flawless but after DA2, the eventual ME story meltdown and the whole SimCity fuck_it_they'll_buy_whatever... well, I doubt I'd buy DA3 if it was free. Hell, I doubt I'll ever buy another Blizzard product either.

If DA3 turns out to be amazing? Well, I'll pick it up. I'm not a sadist but a number of companies have lost their "buy it day 1" status with me.

Origin exclusive = automatic never buy for me. Maybe if I end up getting a PS4 in the future or something.

But most likely I'll just pirate it. Too bad EA isn't serious about being competitive with digital sales.

I don't get this. Are you just talking about pricing? I see Tomb Raider for $16, Crysis 3 for $20, Mass Effect 3 for $6, Battlefield 3 $6, Dead Space 3 $20 .. is this price gouging compared to other places?

Why do people think publishers are going to hand Valve money forever when they could run their own service? It's not like fucking GFWL that ran on top of steam and tried to charge you money for shit you already had for free. It's just a fucking online store / DRM setup, same as everything else. Even if you buy a game from a store you'll have to log in to some kind of "service."
