So where did all the good Bioware ppl go other than the few that retired ?Ha! Yeah I am jaded today more so than usual. But when it comes to anything EA shits out after everyone worth anything left Bioware, seeing trailer scenes from a game full of more spin and empty promises after what happened with DA2 and the bullshit of the ME3 fiasco, doesn't instill me with any more confidence. Suffice it to say, if this was the original Bioware talent that made the original IP games like Mass Effect 1 and DA: Origins, I would be more excited. People need to realize Bioware is dead and not let anyone think anything else.
Hopefully everyone takes their new marketing spin with a grain of salt, because these guys seem to rinse and repeat failure lately. Also, when I take into account some games I was looking forward to in the IPs (Including Dead Space 3) EA is on my shitlist even more so than usual. Add the BF4 server fiasco and all the grassroots marketing surrounding that, I give it about 1 month until everyone complaining about Hardline being a reskin going away, BF4's notorious quality issues going away, and seeing random praise for a segment of an in game trailer somehow taking front and center again.
It would be nice to see people remember the shit they went through over the last 4 years and not go through the same up and down process they did the last 3 game releases.
With that said, I am looking forward to Silent Hills if that counts.
Edit: Dragon Age 2 was a horrible fucking game, so I am not sure if anyone should be ever happy about it even being launched.
The Legacy DLC is well worth it. Mark of the Assassin I would skip. Are the da2 DLCs worth a play though or should I just take the obvious advice from Ut savior of Midgard and tucbro and just say forget it.
Various organizations. A couple of the very good writers who left after a smashed down ending of ME3 was pushed forward without any of their knowledge went to work on Uncharted 4 and the next Last of us. Ubisoft received a couple and are working on/have been working on, Far Cry 4. There is a reason both games (Uncharted 4 and Far Cry 4) are talking about making the game stories more personal and in depth than they have been in the past. Some of their good designers and level creators/artists followed, some went to work on a few indie games of their own and try to upstart their own studios. Bioware is a fraction of what it once was, for obvious reasons. It is now a paid for and owned IP to generate a brand of a "story developer" which isn't doing any good when their strong story writers left anyway. (That obviously doesn't mean they cannot have good stories still, just that their creative talent that they * did * have, lot of them moved to greener pastures. Folks like Drew Karpyshyn. So where did all the good Bioware ppl go other than the few that retired ?
First time for the DAs though and others we're in game rather than online.Yeah, they've always done that it's not really a new feature.
Yeah, I remember how awesome the trailers for SWToR were..Holy shit, fucking Hawke and the Warden in this trailer:
Dragon Age: Inquisition Gamescon Trailer
God this is giving me hope. I specifically said what they needed to do was let you recruit your old characters or at least let them show up and jesus, fucking amazing.
Wonder if they retconned the default Hawke then to female.
As a game, SWTOR was amazing. As an MMO, it was terrible. They need to make all the stories stand alone and it would have been phenomenal as say, KOTOR chronicles or some such. Actually, Empire was awesome. Republic can GTFO. Edit: Let me reiterate that I only really mean story; the gameplay was not good and it had other issues, but if it had been a single player game storywise they would have been more easily overlooked. It's worth noting however that I'm more forgiving in regards to gameplay if the story makes it worth it.Yeah, I remember how awesome the trailers for SWToR were..
Don't get excited just yet; from what I remember hearing that might be a Cullen only thing. That enclosed lion helmet made me drool. Looks wicked. Oh god please don't be too buggy.
The best was when they released a gameplay demo a week before and the community was taken aback. All the fanboys reassured each other with, "Oh this is just something they threw together last minute as a tech demo. The real game will be muuuch better.". Turns out that 'tech demo' was the opening sequence, haha.Plus there was actually a whole lot of signs that something would be wrong with DA2 before it actually released. Remember those combat trailers, where they sort of highlighted how it would be more button mashy than it's predecessor?
I love how they do this with the BF3/4 Demos as well. "These are tech demos and from builds LONG LONG AGO. Everything has been fixed"The best was when they released a gameplay demo a week before and the community was taken aback. Compare that with DAO where some of the opening sequences (both the dwarven ones) were masterpieces.
I think any of the gameplay trailers will show it; the combat kept the flashy action feel but they removed ninja waves, allowed terrain to matter, and if you check out the e 3 trailer you'll see that the AI is improved enough to stop allies from dying to ground effects.I love how they do this with the BF3/4 Demos as well. I cannot believe people fall for that shit. And what's worse is it happens every sequel now.
Hey LadyVex can you point out the changes (Other than the UI changes) in combat between DA2 and DA:I? Use videos if you can. I am not seeing what you are seeing, and at this point I am genuinely curious how you are able to tell the difference in your posted opinion.
