Asylum makes knockoff blockbuster movies on the cheap and releases them at the same time in Walmart/VOD. This looks... awesome

I'll admit, I clicked the video closest to the last post, and thought this was the real dune movie for a few seconds. "I thought this had a bigger budget?" lol ;)

Sean Young must need money badly to pay for her anti-psychotic drugs.

Edit - I would actually have more respect for her if she did gilf gape porn than headlining this kind of fluff garbage.

Cocaine did a number on 80s women.

Seems inevitable once they announced this fucked up release schedule and streaming on HBO. 1080 Webrip got leaked early.

Watched the rip. Wouldn't say it was bad but there were some things I didn't like and tbh I think the 80s version was better in the story telling in some regards. Paul looks like a child, his mom looks like his sister and there's no inner monologue in some places compared to the 80s which throws of the flow in those scenes. Some of the inner monologue from the 80s movie is spoken out loud in this one and it really fits the inner monologue take better. Not sure I'd say the additional length compared to where this ends was worth the effort.

Paul is 15 in the book.

Definitely holding off for the Imax laser showing on Friday.

I enjoyed this.

The effects are as good as they could be. The scenery was amazing. The music was enough but not as good as the original movie. I felt for the most part that the actors did a good job. I was a bit surprised at where they ended it. I really thought the awakening was going to be the end. I suppose that happens to far ahead. The pacing was almost too fast. I hope that perhaps they have a longer version of this to better explain out the story.

It was easily the best movie of the year.

I loved the ornithopters.

There were some things that I did miss from the older film. I found the inner voice narration at key points to help better explain out the reasoning for certain things, helped with the pacing of the older movie. I kind of wish they had done this with the new movie. Things like when the doctor looks astonished at the Duke because he cares for his people over the spice. That scene was narrated to better explain the reaction. I also missed having the scene that actually showed the transport from one space to another. I was hoping they would have updated that with today's movie effects. I wanted a little more back story on that....spider thing. That was creepy.

Pretty good. Villeneuve was born to make this movie. Only thing that bothered me was that it wasn't an HBO series instead, they didn't cut much of what I'd consider 'essential'--but the visuals and atmosphere were so good that I'd have gladly sat through 10 hours of minutia world building just to keep eating that up.

I agree 100%. I would have loved a fleshed out series that involved this world with the set and effects used in the movie. Everything in the movie felt like you could have added another 30 minutes in an effort to explain it out. Things like the Palm Trees, and the horrors commited by the Harkonnen are just easy examples of narratives that could have been full stories. A series that would be the new Game of Thrones but hopefully without the Season 8 debacle.

Just reserved tickets for IMAX next Friday.
Just gave my buddy these tickets because I got the Rona and my quarantine time does not end until next week. It sucks, but it is truly a 1st World Problem.
