They were doing maint patch a bit ago

edit: People online were complaining about the mini gun dudes with shields - they aren't too hard to beat once you understand them. I figured out a bunch of ways to deal with them:

1) Use a stun ability then run up and slow stab them, then run away before they do their PBAOE bubble thing - best method if you don't have any guns or ammo on you
2) Shoot them with disrupters - disrupters MELT shields, highly recommend grabbing one just to deal with shielded enemies
3) Get behind low cover and shoot them when they open fire (their shields drop when shooting). The spread on their gun is pretty bad - i could stand behind a Holtzman barrier shield and shoot them with minimal damage

Or if you're playing a Jedi , use the mind trick to jump behind them and one-shot them in the back with a dagger/sword.

Ya, I liked it enough for the limited play we got. I do like that the sandworm is a legitimate threat if you stay on the open sand too long and you still need to be mindful of staying in the sun too long. Before beta ended I got eaten by the worm and ended up in some Freman afterlife where I got to come back to life with a replacement mk1 sandbike and a unique pistol, although the game tells you that only happens once.

I'll probably still go Mentat first in live - they get some good rifle/pistol buffs, shields, and some CC. Really no purpose in picking trooper first - the trainer for them shows up super early, so you can pick up trooper pretty quick if only for the grapple wire initially

Yeah that’s the exact reason I’m Mentat as well. Plus, I really love dropping the turret as I run through a base and hide behind a wall lol

It was fun, almost exactly what I was expecting. Once I learned how to make water a bit more abundant it started flowing easier. Using the dew scythes at night to fill literjons and cisterns in base, instead of just relying on blood slowly turning to water.

I do need to figure out how to increase your carrying capacity. I got the storage on bike, but shocked there isnt a backpack or something you can craft earlier, instead of say a shield, so if you are in a building mood, can collect a lot more stone.

I did the bene gesserit thing first, just for the sprint movement at the start. Since you get trooper and planetologist pretty quick.

I'm definitely doing something ranged. Probably Mentat.

The melee system is complete ass and has all the jank of Conan Exiles where hit boxes are awkward, parries randomly move you around when the animation happens, etc.

Im happy you guys came away from it with a positive outlook. I was going to hold off and wait a couple weeks after launch, but it seems thats unwarranted.

I played about 10 hours and had a really good time, more than I expected to be honest.

While the combat isn’t great, it wasnt as bad as I expected.

What? Oh my god don't leave us hanging.

I might have to give this a look see given all of the positive this appears to be getting. When you start the game, does it do a descent job with a base tutorial before you just get thrown to the worms?

The intial quests does a pretty good job of walking you through what to build, and what each thing does and systems around it. Just don't dismiss the little help windows as soon as they pop up. And you can easily get ahead of the quests where you have a bunch of things unlocked/build/buy and you don't realize what they did.

For example I bought a dew scythe thing, thinking it was an upgrade to when I drank water from plants but later in story it has you build one and explain how at night you run it over those same plants and it can easily fill the literjons you carry, to either drink or store at the base.

That said not sure following the quests rigidily is the go to either. Exploring is well worth it. Lots of unique items, blueprints, even a early speedbike if you find it, not to mention all the intel(basically research points) in all the points of interests.

Game has a true tutorial intro and then a guided early game option. Tutorial is the basic how to move/climb/fight/ access locked shields/stay in the shade, then you get dumped into the actual game map

For actual game start, you have the option of guided start or advanced. Guided start locks research based on where you are quest wise. So for example quest has you craft some clothes and binoculars and resource cutting tool or whatever, then as you do the quests it unlocks the next research items needed for the next quest. This might be helpful if you want to do the quests for xp/rewards and don’t want to accidentally research stuff that isn’t needed and requires you earn more research points before you can research the quest related stuff. However I found myself getting research point capped early on because I explored and got lots of points and really resented not being able to research the sand bike earlier

There is a chest slider which makes tits bigger and an ass slider. No body type 1 or 2 either - you pick a premade to start modifying and they're all clearly male/female options even though they aren't labeled.

Unfortunately, no. That's one of the best features missing from Conan. I always created a dude with a massive hog, to compensate for my tiny pecker IRL.

Did you get the magic dong extender potion. It was truly epic:
