You lose the spawn if you cook plump helmets, make sure to set them to only brew.

Wait...is there a way to actually set that in some menu? I've been having to make sure individual kitchens or work orders aren't using them

There should be a menu where you can see each ingredient and set permissions for cooking, brewing or both.

Why are you so weak and allowing this nonsense to continue?

Dump them in a pit and let them eat each other.
I'd never seen anything like it, I was easily getting 2 poets for every migrant, so I was just gonna let it play out to figure out what the end game was. Apparently it was just dwarf socialism. My scheme to kill them all off failed, too. All the dwarves died instead and all of them lived. There was 0 food or booze left when I abandoned the fortress, so I guess its fitting if they ultimately starved to death.

FFS, by the time I saw the alert it was just an 11yo kid vs undead raven

Kid just punches the fucker right in the head.

I swear to God I've had an entire squad fighting these undead feathery fucks off, and this tiny kid just smacked the shit out of it

I'm such a terrible parent

haha i hadn't played a few years, pre-steam. and i tried to get on. and almost none of the hotkeys work from the old version so i made a grouchy face mostly. and the elevation scroll wheel is backward. i'll have to fuck with it later. or when the old-style controls are more integrated.

It's not hard to fix. There's a specific setting for elevation for the scrollwheel in keybindings. Change that one and none of the others and you're golden.

Set this up on the Steam deck and made a world. Worked pretty flawlessly. Using the little haptic touchpad things, it's possible to play it fairly reliably with just the steam deck, though its a tad more finnicky than I'd like. Hooked up a bluetooth mouse, and I can't use any shortkeys, but pretty much everything can be accessed within three clicks. About all I needed to do was bind pause to one of the side mouse buttons and I was able to play it mouse-only surprisingly well TBH, great to pass time at work. Haven't even thought of anything I'd want to bind to the other side mouse button yet.

Now that's what I like to see. Some Ettin charged into my fort right as the merchants were departing. Merchants tried their best, but the Ettin had it in for all of them. He managed to struggle his way toward my fort slowly, but gave up exhausted, but not unconscious. Too early to have a reasonable military, so I decided fuck it, and risked sending all my peasants out to fight the ettin barehanded. 20 dwarves piled on and they stomped his shit in without a single one getting injured. Free Caravan loot, and a free refund on all the good I sold them? Don't mind if I do. My only casualty was a goat in the wrong place at the wrong time. Thanks for the assist caravan fighters.

Don't the mountain homes get pissed at this eventually?

I made a fort once with the Trade Depot in a downing chamber.

If you kill them or they die mysteriously, yes, but I don't think so if a named creature kills them. Could be wrong? If I am, fun ahoy.

Looking into it, they get suspicious of you, but wont immediately attack on the first time. Was a human caravan, so not overly concerned. If the humans want to experience fun, My first dwarven squads are training for the day!

Be ware of pissing off humans. They can swing giant mauls and become immune to traps they saw when visiting
