I think Black Mass was the last thing I saw him in that I enjoyed. I remember thinking Waiting for the Barbarians looked cool, and then I just never saw it after it got middling reviews.

All the bedshitting drama aside, Depp actually is a good actor who has had quite a few notable roles over the past 40 years. Ron, Magneto, and Rey are a bit of a mixed bag. Gandalf is always great in everything, but Ron and Rey are only known for their singular role that ended years ago.

Yea I don't hate Depp and he can be entertaining on screen. If anything the whole crazy model wife shitting the bed and the trial that followed made him more likable.

Ron seems like a decent dude for being a ginger, so sure why not.

Depp s schtick only works in cases where hes playing a character you don't already know.

He always plays the same weird, creepy, awkward thing. It works for novel characters like Edward Scissorhands or Jack Sparrow.

It doesnt work when he signs up to play an existing character because he still plays that same weird creepy awkward thing instead of playing this character as it exists already.

Love A Christmas Carol, but I'm skeptical.
