What I liked most about Dragonwilds was that the survival/crafting stuff was a means to completing the questing and combat part of the game, rather than the other way around.
Similar to Enshrouded that. It's much more action based than something like Valheim. Quick movement, very responsive. It's built to explore. Combat has been vastly improved in EA, and like Caliane said, it's one of the better/best EAs based on actually expanding the world and what you can do in it. World is handcrafted, so feels very good to explore similar to Dragonwilds I guess. I like this much more than Valheim in that regard. Hidden nooks and crannies everywhere. Since it is voxel based and environments are destructive, you can also find places underground and hidden behind things you can dig/blow up.
They've now added full voice acting on lore scrolls (that keep playing as you pick them up). Lore and world is actually good, but rarely read them. There is lots.
Gameloop is exploration, can travel everywhere, but you usually have quests on the map giving you hints on areas where NPCS are.
Quests can be world quests you need to complete to expand the areas you can explore tied to "flame" level, where unless you unlock that level you die instantly if you go past certain points, but doesn't feel like invisible walls. Progression is good.
You also get exploration quests you find along the way and quests from NPCs you find and can put around your base. They don't do much (don't think even in 1.0) except walk around your base, but as you get quests to find them you get access to their inventories which let you craft more stuff. NPCs are usually placed in combat areas where you have to fight up until you find their "spirits" then you summon them at the base. One of the first you get is a world quest to find a blacksmith, then when summoning him, it unlocks a forge, then later the NPC itself offer you a quest to find an item that lets you upgrade it to make even higher tier items. Pretty much all NPCs work like that. You'll often have quests "locked" as you can see where they are, but you can't get to those areas yet.
Dragonwilds has more intricate crafting. Valheim has a more "immersive" feel to it. Enshrouded though is the best "game" of them in my opinion. It's just very fun to explore.
