Why do people automatically compare any game with destructible environments to Minecraft?
Minecraft wasn't the first game to host a destructible engine, and it won't be the last. The first game that did it well was Red Faction for Playstation, a game where explosives blew chunks of walls away. From the footage I've seen, and I saw an interviewer mention this, it's much more akin to Red Faction than Minecraft. You won't be taking a mining pick and dicking up "blocks" but moreover just collateral explosions blowing pieces of the world away - which is a lot more cool.
First off, during the reveal, he did say you can take a pick and just go on digging

secondly, after reveal interviews with SOE they (SOE) that is, compare it to minecraft..
Third, Even their round tables ask about minecraft as a comparison
""--How complex should the Landmark design tools be?

About the same as Minecraft's

I have no preference

More complex than Minecraft's

Complexity is no issue; I want power!

So in the gameplay, yes, you will be able to dig, you will gather resources, you will craft based on those resources and you will build based on your crafting. So yea extremely akin to minecraft.
Now, i'm not saying this is a bad thing, i enjoy the hell out of minecraft when i play... but this is EQ, not Minecraft. I'm interested to see it, but i'm still on the fence on this for an MMO. Was hoping for something a bit different. For now i'll just keep hoping they decide that you can play any class at any time is a stupid idea. Till then, i'll just follow the site and see :/
