So 5 item slots with one of them being a weapon. That leaves 4 other spots for gear which can have different abilities on them. 8 total abilities on your hotbar with 4 from from your weapon and the other 4 can be enhanced by the abilities on your gear maybe?
hmm there was a review of information some pages ago and it said 4 from weapons and 4 from class. So probably something like "Extra damage for Ubershot" or "4 seconds off CD of Roar of Might" etc. With people mixing and matching gear to get the "bonus" they want. I could even see a mix of bonuses. Say some bonuses for weapon types and others effecting class abilities.

They obviously can't do an exp penalty on death, but I'm hoping that we see the return of corpse runs. Force the players to respect the world you've created, and you create better players.
Corpse runs would be insane with multi-level zones. I would love to see it though.

I dunno what else they could do besides gear being damage, which is about the weakest penalty possible.

In regards to the character art and expressions, they do look much better in the game and in context. It is very Dreamwork/Pixar but the girl really looked great within the game. I'm not going to stress so much about but another concern I have with Georgeson is that he loves gimmics. See SoEmote. If this game is driven by gimmics it will fail.

Honestly, taking everything at face value, I really think EQ/EQ2 looked to capture a much better essence of what our community would expect than what EQNext displayed thus far.
This is from an eternity ago with the way this thread has moved but the more I see the environment destruction the more it looks like a gimmick that will become old very fast. The world actually changing and staying changed - good. An interactive environment - also good. Shit blowing up at every turn because EXPLOSIONS ARE COOL = meh. At least make hitting rocks have feedback or something. Can't wait to exploit the shit out of every tough mob.

By the way, Georgeson shouldn't ever present again. You could not find a guy who oozes "unlikable douche" more if you tried.

From what I've seen so far I'd bet on Landmark being wildly more successful than the MMO.

Why do people automatically compare any game with destructible environments to Minecraft?

Minecraft wasn't the first game to host a destructible engine, and it won't be the last. The first game that did it well was Red Faction for Playstation, a game where explosives blew chunks of walls away. From the footage I've seen, and I saw an interviewer mention this, it's much more akin to Red Faction than Minecraft. You won't be taking a mining pick and dicking up "blocks" but moreover just collateral explosions blowing pieces of the world away - which is a lot more cool.

They could have some/all of your gear be destroyed on death too.

I lied...one more question. With the destructible environment will the shit grow back like 20 mins later or will a zone that is a forest eventually become something like a North Karana?

Red Faction had this multiplayer map with a canyon with two opposing castles/fortresses facing each other. Set the map on rockets only and make the rule: no leaving your fortress, and honestly it was probably the most fun FPS experience I've ever had.

Imagine people firing rockets into the other person's castle until it was nothing but ruins and there was nowhere to hide. These huge four level castles would start off so massive and impressive and by the end of the match would be nothing but rubble, with people firing rockets into the holes in the wall blowing apart the floor and even the canyon wall nestled behind it.

They said it heals. Supposedly based on the population? So more crowded faster it heals, less crowded it stays around longer. But none of it is permanent.

They said some areas are permanent damage, but I'm assuming shit like newbie areas will probably heal up quickly.

First off, during the reveal, he did say you can take a pick and just go on digging
here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtA1iQaPJhc@ 54:40
secondly, after reveal interviews with SOE they (SOE) that is, compare it to minecraft..
Third, Even their round tables ask about minecraft as a comparison

So in the gameplay, yes, you will be able to dig, you will gather resources, you will craft based on those resources and you will build based on your crafting. So yea extremely akin to minecraft.
Now, i'm not saying this is a bad thing, i enjoy the hell out of minecraft when i play... but this is EQ, not Minecraft. I'm interested to see it, but i'm still on the fence on this for an MMO. Was hoping for something a bit different. For now i'll just keep hoping they decide that you can play any class at any time is a stupid idea. Till then, i'll just follow the site and see :/

Going to be hilarious watching hundreds of "zixiangs" all picking away at the ground and disappearing into holes to get their ore. Too bad you can't run over and blow the shit up collapsing it on him.
