You can still do things like that, though. Except now instead of just being super powerful and steamrolling mobs to get corpses, maybe you're one of the only tier 5 rogues on the continent with Stealth of Shadows. You're still a badass and you still save the day, you just might not do it by OHKO on every mob. Maybe you are literally the first person on the server to unlock the Demi Lich class that can summon corpses at will.
While they may only give you stealth of shadows for being a tier 5 rogue, I have a feeling that soe would give out a dps ability like double backstab instead. Maybe not for all the classes, but at least for some.

Yeah confirmed as in +3 dex gives you 4 more DPS with your arrow.
nope. Different gear means different abilities. If you're rocking elvish ranger armor you have different abilities then me in my qeynos armor. It seems yo be mtg as noted earlier by lithos or lenas

I think eqn will be huge. As I said before reveal eq1 only folks may hate it but whatever

it wasn't just to solo it for no reason, though. you could make a name for yourself by being the level 50 and going back to old content and helping others. i remember going back to felwithe and helping 3 people who died in the castle of crushbone to get their corpses back and killing just about every orc in that zone with two spells. those are the kinds of moments that i remember about EQ. and when i was a lower level, higher levels helping me out as well. point is, when you hit max level and got the best gear, you felt like you earned your stripes. this kind of progression, just doesn't seem like it will hold the same thrill.
I think you're wrong. They are heavy into uniqueness. Hardcore people will be known

So 5 item slots with one of them being a weapon. That leaves 4 other spots for gear which can have different abilities on them. 8 total abilities on your hotbar with 4 from from your weapon and the other 4 can be enhanced by the abilities on your gear maybe?

NOthing is given. You've got to find it out in the world.

Given is a bad choice of words. Have access to would be better. It is sounding like gear will only be for looks and what abilities/spells you can use. So higher tier gear will have better abilities/spells, right?

That's actually what I've wanted to hear from an MMO for a really long time. I want somewhat unique spells that are either crafted or found again, god yes.

I know eventually most people will have everything but that's still awesome. And the fact that you can change classes anytime you want means you don't have to make fucking alts so you won't have to do it all over again.

Ok so the battle scene at 53 mins into EverQuest Next Worldwide Debut: P2 was pretty awesome looking. The two minutes before that looked like crap though. None of the group of mobs that were engaged attacked the player first and some of them just stood there until they died. I'm sure, or I hope, they address that. Because up until they attacked that Vortex Lord or whatever it was seemed like some really simple easy shit.

Also, last question I'll ask...did anyone address what happens when a player dies?

1) Enemy AI was not turned on for the demo, hence why the goblins just stood there
2) They aren't talking about death penalties yet, but they did say there'd be one

mob AI was off for those fights, and death penalty has not been worked out yet. Possibility for harder ruleset servers either way.

They obviously can't do an exp penalty on death, but I'm hoping that we see the return of corpse runs. Force the players to respect the world you've created, and you create better players.

They haven't talked at all about how they're handling death, I dont' think they know themselves
