Based on this article I think my final predictions for SOELive/EQN are EQcraft + December release. I'll also stick to my previous prediction of some element of EVElike open PvP for resources due to the Brasse quote.
And by craft you mean minecraft not warcraft for those who half read posts.

The more and more I read stuff, I don't think EQ1 or any traditional pve mmo will have anything to do with this game. I expect minimal instancing and it almost sounds like it could have most items from crafters, if not all. I'm starting to think EVE-like fighting over crafting resources that will fuel the gearing is probably about right. Lots of player generated forts/dungeons/towns I'd wager that are destructible. There's an opportunity for them to beat gw2 at the game they tried to be and beat them soundly and maybe create a new type of fantasy mmo...

Legitimate question since I honestly haven't read every last quote on this game, but have they ever even uttered the words "dungeon" or "raid?"

Also, I agreed with Qwerty's second post on traps where he discussed his point better, though I find his posting style absolutely exhausting. And I can be a terrible poster.

They have but as you point out that may not be the focus of the "endgame" or may just be one of several foci. I expect most dungeons to be non-instanced and contested but some combination of contested/instanced content for raids based on very brief remarks by Georgeson in one of the many videos out there.

Yea, every time I think I know what to expect I start second guessing.. I want crafting to be a big deal in this game. Simple shit like making bags. Hope they bring that stuff all back. Bags were super valuable in EQ. I remember the whole burning down a forest line...Wonder if that has to do with resource battles?

Wow, surprised he wrote that after signing the NDA. I think he gives away more than he thinks. Of course people were suspecting this stuff, but he basically confirmed it:

  • Crafting is a*HUGE*part of the game
  • Player Studio and SoEmote are in, but Dungeon Maker is out
  • In-game art isnotthe same as that infamous painting
  • Playable at SoE Live
Interesting that he didn't mention PvP when that's one of the hottest topics.

We absolutely need to build that style of content [high-end raids] into every game we make because players want that. We're not talking about the end of raids, the end of this incredibly high-level content. We're talking about changing the nature of the world around it so that there's a lot more to do "in between" expansions.

I'm hoping it's mostly crafting based, with PvE that's about resource gathering or efficiency--meaning the point of PvE is not just winning, as you can easily zerg things down, but how efficiently you can obtain the materials (So the people who "win" will be the ones who can do it with the smallest crews.) The reason why I think this system would work really well in an open PvP system is that you can put crafting material on mobs (Maybe make a form of currency/broadly used material, like diamonds, from group or difficult mobs) and keep actual "magical" (PvE) items very, very, very rare, and of course completely unrestricted with trading.

So most people would wear almost all crafted gear, and maybe have one or two magical items, that they got really lucky with (Or they made a lot of money crafting and bought as the PvE farmers of those instances sold them). When the number of people using crafted gear drops off due to over farming or saturation, bring out another tier of crafting that is equal to (At least) or clearly superior (If it's crafted with "high grade" materials, which might take some time to spawn so the replacement of last tier magic gear will be gradual) and release a new set of dungeons based off the new crafting tier and let the process recycle itself. So, game starts with Tier 1 Resources, then as Tier 2 schematics filter into the economy (Through the start of a new tier, though the dungeons will open later), Tier 2 resources begin appearing (Replacing Tier 1).

If your content cycle is a little slow, you could just add a kind of "curse" system where in your world every magical item requires so much "soul power" (Or something) to be worn. So people can only wear a few PvE items. They'd still be rare as hell, but this would encourage their sale when a person has the few PvE items they want, and it would keep crafted gear required, as even the most effecient and decked out PvEr would still be mostly crafted.

And of course, crafted would decay or could be lost in PvP--so there would be a constant demand for it. Not to mention if you make crafted based on quality of resources, and have those resources fluctuate, the demand for potentially better armor as a new field of Tier1 Steel would also generate demand (Just have to be careful to make sure your systems don't allow too much afk extraction so a person can stock pile a life times worth before shifts.)

I wonder if it will still have base cities. Even though player built cities are cool, it would be nice to see Felwithe and Kelethin again.

Fear not, for the player made cities of Peniswidth and Dickthin shall flawlessly recreate that classic feel.

So this is what we know? No beta, project reset(s), significant involvement of sigil management and devs, complete reliance on meme-esque buzzwords, and technical gimmickry.

Going to the con for the big reveal? It's like paying them to shit in your mouth. I'd do it for free

What are you talking about? The project resets and Butler are the only reasons I have any hope for this project.
