It's not that it's a huge slog, it's that it's a terrible zone and that forcing people to play in it is stupid. Even if you fix everything about sky it's still the worst 'raid zone' in classic/kunark.
Did you forget about VP? VP is infinitely worse than Sky. Sky is also like one of the least sloggy raid zones ever. The trash is all just regular leveling group tier mobs that you mow through and the bosses outside of one all have either 1 mechanic or 0 mechanics.

The free game that generated $100,000's of dollars in illegal revenue
The real world is that THJ was this (but better) and was free and had huge community support. It doesn't matter how 'illegal' it was. This game will be compared to what happened. DBG killed THJ in the most hilariously inept way (ie retarded dev apparently now on legends side that couldn't get to naggy with a level 1 rogue with sos to take screenshots, wrong models in the docs, etc) and lost any respect from the community of nerds that play shit like this. All the people selling it up have either not played THJ, not played early era EQ recently or are p99/fte/pnp chodes whose opinions should be discarded on all matters of taste. In a vacuum maybe some decisions could be defended, but nothing exists in a vacuum.

$10 box cost and cheap monthly? I spend more than that weekly on coffee or snacks.
I was just answering Xevy. The point isn't that you have discretionary income as a 50+ year old (I hope you do), it's that they are charging for something that people previously played a better version of, for free. That is lame.

Nah it's fine. This janky ass, ambitious confusing zone is EverQuest. It's really not that bad if you can solo it or faceroll it in a group.

Stealing is always cheaper than not stealing. We don't know what their agreement with Daybreak is, all of that sub and box money might be going straight to DBG in return for the license and servers.

They also aren't trying to make exactly a copy of THJ, so remember that your worse really is just worse for you personally but might be better for lots of other people some who played THJ and some who never did.

Gotcha. I never did, so this is new to me. I haven’t done EQ since 2001.

Pretty sure Plane of Fear is 100% the worst classic Raid Zone by a country mile. Fears, dispells, snares, deathballs, death touches, and roots.

PoSky has some frontal dispellers, highly magic resistant mobs, two DT mobs, and a bunch of splitter mobs. Outside of the DT mobs, which will be nerfed, the hardest bosses simply hit very hard and very fast with moderate dragon AOE's without a fear component.

I played THJ, I may even be named in the lawsuit for praising it. I loved it. That said this thing is so fucking close to THJ people pretending its night and day are, to steal a really dumb term, Everquest Legends Derangement Syndrome-ing themselves. Some systems changed but 65-80% of this is the same thing.

In the end none of this shit matters. 90% of the people posting here will play it. Then after a month they can cancel their sub and shit on it or keep paying and playing.

If Kunark is is truly 5 months+ away I'm pretty sure we'll see a huge deathspike in subs and they'll figure out they need to sell MTX because people don't like subbing to games you can't earn and shit like Krono brings in all sorts of slime best kept under the floor. People can't handle 3 month TLP stretches with slower progression (yeah, that's right fellas, TLP's are slower than this), so almost twice that is fucked. Especially while paying the entire time.

That's the real criticism of this. Is it going to be worth paying MONTHLY? Probably not. THJ wasn't worth that. I got 3 characters to top end raid content double raid farm per day shit and even then I was done in 2 weeks each time. These grind systems aren't as deep as people think they're more to give people goals than artificial extenders. Add in the fact you only have one character so you can prefarm for future characters and level up that shit so they're g2g as soon as you use a swap and they're going to run out of content fast. There's going to be at least 3 months of desert level population they're going to reel from.

You think anyone is giving them that feedback?
