They did show off an alternative way to level up items using "motes" which are basically like free exp you can add to any item. Bosses will always(?) drop some, randomly from other trash I guess. There is supposedly a third way to upgrade gear that hasn't been shown. The problem is +10 gear is essentially +100% to all of the stats/dmg on the item, this is way way way below the power level of THJ legendaries though which are like 150-200% of stats + stuff that didn't come on the item like ATK and spell dmg. Character scaling is in my opinion going to be very flat still.
More concerning is that basically everything beyond Nagafen/Vox is going to be no drop still, which means uber grinds to get the drops you need and somehow upgrade them while legions of loot you don't need rots.

Lame all that shit was sellable in the Bazaar on THJ. That was one of the fun things about THJ. Almost everything wasn't no-drop.

Being able to level multiple things at once through various means is probably better than leveling one single item in one slot and putting everything else in queue for that slot. Especially once you got max AA's and you were literally just grinding exp to evolve some side-grade or pet weapon.

One of the biggest things we don't know is how stats work. They said they tweaked stats so stats are more meaningful and adjusted stat caps into soft caps more-so than hard-caps but we honestly know way too little to call the ball. If stats don't make you significantly more powerful then it will be a big detriment to this things success. I hope spell damage scaling is a thing and we see something on that front soon and I hope the scaling from STR/DEX/AGI is adjusted massively. Also it would be nice is CHA did something.. anything at all.
The fact that they claim people have cleared most of +4 makes me hope the scaling is legit and this will all work out but TBD.
Of course people doom and gloom. Because it's fun to watch a ship start sinking. Before Concord came out people were saying It's gonna die, and then when it came out and died people cheered and were happy. People also love seeing things sink if they don't like a person. Personally Secrets being whatever the fuck they are doesn't concern me. I have had my own gripes with Secrets for them flipping out on me in the Quarm discord because I didn't give a single fuck about Ukraine because I live in the US and care about where I live, apparently they don't like that train of thought.
Also I have a feeling the Beta keys aren't as "Random" as they say I have a feeling they're being screened but that's just me speaking my tinfoil hat theory.
Secrets made the multi-class code, great, fantastic, round of applause now lets look at the harsh truth. They couldn't get the shit to entice people. THJ did. So let's put it this way Secrets knows how to fly a plane but doesn't know how to land it, so every time it comes time to land they fucking crash. This one was created to attempt to slurp people up that are hungering for THJ.

Refusal to tell us EXP rate just saying Faster than 99 slower than retail. Why?
Needing to unlock Races with a token so you can have a specific primary class race combo. Why?
Refusing to give a bunch of basic ass information. FUCKING WHY.
The list for shit that makes no fucking sense literally fucking goes on. WHY THE FUCK ARE THEY ADDING ZONES, WHY ARE THEY DEMAKING ZONES?! Who fucking wanted this? Did someone look at the fucking list of Everquest zones and go "Yeah that's cool and all but what really needs to happen is we need to just remake this zone entirely. FUCKING WHY! NO ONE WANTS THIS!
The fuckers that were playing THJ don't want that shit! They were happy experiencing Everquest zones as they were and just doing tons of theory crafting testing out new characters and builds ect. Meanwhile you got this new one where they could literally just make some changes to THJ they got the fucking code and say "TA DA HERE IT IS COME PLAY!" And they'd get a lot of those people back if they were willing to pay.
Instead we get this Box price, Subscription, with Microtransaction shop with who knows what in it they already said EXP pots will be in it. Oh boy, surely they won't sell things like inventory space or bags! Well they stated they'll never sell power, oh the things to upgrade items? Well we're not selling the item so it's not selling power.

If I was a game dev, I would 100% filter my beta keys, but probably in the opposite way you mean. I would want the sweatiest shit lords possible who are actually going to push the shit out of my systems and try to break them. I don't want some casual fair weather player who is going to relive their dream of getting to kill Crush because they were too afraid to ask for a group in 1999.

This will happen even if you do not intend it, this was when they were questioned about Christian allegory in their work- one was intentional, one was not - but then explained that while not intentional, it is only natural that his works could be seen as such, because he was a Christian.
So whatever media, art, etc. you consume, there /will be/ intentional or not- aspects of their beliefs in said work.

Most people saw EQL and thought it was going to be EverQuests version of of THJ that they just decided to let Secrets and Rog run with since they have EMU experience and the EQ team is spread too thin right now to pull it off. For example Ngreth is literally crying on the official EQ forums that they might not even have all the Frostreaver features the community voted on built out in time for May 27th (Bst,Zerker shit mostly). It was a reasonable assumption that this was their version of THJ though.
Here's the problem, you can find here on these very forums a post from Secrets themselves with a mile long list of things they thought were wrong with THJ. If you read this list it clearly establishes that many of the things that made THJ great were not seen as a positive from Secrets perspective. In my opinion the success of THJ was something that Secrets did not understand and resented.
So we all thought we were getting a natural and official successor/improved version of THJ and that was a completely fair assumption when EQL was announced and multiclassing was the key feature announcement. The EQL team is simply not going to disabuse you of those assumptions because in doing so would lessen the hype.
The fact remains, and as I have said for weeks on here, this is not going to feel anything like THJ, and anyone who was hoping it would is going to be MASSIVELY disappointed.
Can you even call this a rug pull if you see it coming a hundred miles away?
