Is MQ even a big issue? Like doing a Mq for a sky weapon isn’t even that good if it just gives you a sky weapon at +0. You are still mostly restricted by how many motes you have to upgrade it.

I think it was enough of an issue because there was a group constantly clearing sky in order to MQ all their drops to each other.

Complete lack of parity with people trying to play solo.

Aside from convenience xp pots, they haven't confirmed what is going to be in the shop just yet. Getting mad about that is a little premature. It's also unclear whether unlocks will be character based or account based. The tradeskill depot and dragon hoard were account unlocks that you had to buy from the cash shop in EQ, for example. If they are character based, then I might be inclined to agree with you, depending on how grindy the in game unlock is. Then again, only your race and primary class are locked in, so maybe not.

Lots of stuff has not been finalized or even announced yet. The game itself is pretty fun as is. Symphonic Aura is a fucking amazing game changer for bards. You can have up to 5 buffs just flat out autocast, no fizzling, no missed notes, no melody. It doesn't interfere with melee or casting. It is awesome. The focus stealing effect is extremely easy to use. Upgrading items is as simple as farming copies or making them via tradeskills. Motes are helpful, but nothing you can't just do for yourself without them.

How they intend to monetize will certainly impact players. That is always the case. That said, their competition is really just the TLPs and emus. No one is coming to play EQ as a new player in 2026. Anyone who loves the Live-slop is going to stay there. If they continue to tighten up and polish everything from vanilla -> POP so that it all just works and is solo/casual friendly, they should be fine.
Okay fair points on not knowing what else is in the shop, we won't know what's in it till it's out. Fine. Account based progression... does it matter? I mean you can't have alts, regardless it's still fucking retarded to have your primary class and race locked especially without allowing alts.

I don't care how good it seems all that bullshit blah blah blah. There are certain things that just should be there. Alts should be there, and if you're going to say no alts then you shouldn't restrict changing your primary class and race until the fucking end game, it's dumb as hell. But it's also one of those things that wouldn't surprise me because as I've said. Secrets can come up with ideas but can't land shit. Like honestly how does it benefit the player to lock them into a primary class that they might learn they hate? It doesn't benefit them and it just incentivizes them to quit. Like if you're mid 30's and suddenly think damn I really wish I didn't pick Rogue as my primary class, you're fucked. Delete your character? That's retarded.

But my reply was to the retard who said believing something is greedy is anti-capitalist. Greed is part of capitalism but it doesn't mean you can't call it out, but he's probably some 3rd world goat fucker so he probably doesn't even know what capitalism is.

If it's just 1 class you don't like. Just get to 50 and unlock something else. Every class has synergies with almost everything else. If all the classes are locked behind POSky quests, just make that your goal and farm that shit old school EQ style. With Mtn Dew, cheesy poofs, and poopsocks.

You get all the skills and spells of your 2nd and 3rd classes, so change to the most important 2/3 of whatever your goal is, and unlock last one or whatever of the 3 is easiest at 50.

Okay so we don't know how long it will take to get to 50 because they're being intentionally obtuse with the exp rate.

Yes it's 1 class but again why should it be locked period with no way out other than deleting your character, hitting 50, doing all sky quests, or potentially spending real money.

It's egregious and you know it. You know there's no reason for them to fuck people over and not allow alts. If I hit 30 and I really hate my primary class I should be able to swap it.

You know what let's use WoW as an example since each class has 3 different specs. Let's say you pick retribution as a Paladin in Classic WoW but uhoh you can't pay gold to change your spec you need to hit 60 and clear Molten Core multiple times collecting the entire tier one set for healing before you can swap to holy. Well just make a new character, Well let's say Blizzard removed the option to make an alt so you gotta delete your character fully.

It's ridiculous and you know it and you're playing this game of dancing around the real issue.

The point is it shouldn't fucking exist in the first place. They wanna have you do bullshit to unlock your primary class? Fine do it, but don't hold someone's fucking account hostage by saying CLEAR SKY AND DO ALL THE QUESTS OR DELETE YOUR CHARACTER!

This is a game that has a box price and a subscription fee. There is no reason for them to lock the primary class and no reason to not allow alts.

Your reason of "Well just hit 50" Is fucking ridiculous, if I want to make a new fucking character I should be able to.

Defending it is wild. Of course there are ways around it. You can eat a big pile of shit if you plug your nose and cover it in powdered sugar too. Maybe instead of telling people how to unlock new characters (obvious) you say, "yeah that is retarded and the devs have their heads up their ass".

bunch of streams now that partial NDA is lifted: streams

1778865503776.png

i checked in earlier and the knighttimeadventure guy has a bunch of level 50 classes after 2 weeks of play and was quickly jumping between combinations (which also stored gear loadouts) and showing off class abilities/AA's/etc. lots of interesting qol changes that weren't available to thj, and a bunch of new spells/effects/etc to boost class power/sustain.

that said- he pulled a small train of 10ish mobs in the hole+0 as an overgeared 50 war/clr/brd and combat was still "chuggy", taking 4-5 mins to kill the bunch. i also hung around long enough to watch him do mobs in hate+0 as solo+charmed pet and duo w/ mnk/pal/brd and it looked very slow (like genuinely slower in-combat than doing hate solo as an enchanter on p99), so i assume xp is either heavily boosted or the guy has absolutely zero life outside of playing the beta.

at one point he said solo'ing raid content was tough/impossible beyond +1 (depending on the mob's multi-class RNG), and with everyone getting their own loot table in groups- grouping up and doing +4 was just preferred to get the higher tier loot out the gate for now. i think i heard him say that island bosses in sky were currently on a one hour respawn and noble/overseer/hand were on a two hour though, so i don't think changing primary classes will be all that difficult if they keep things as they are (think he had 3 primaries unlocked and a few others on the verge of being unlocked).

edit - checked back in after posting and he duo'd eye of veeshan in sky+0 with another war/clr/brd and it took about 3 mins, with the fight not looking particularly difficult.

So loadouts are just your alts. You keep your gear but switch between characters. The characters are logged out at their last location they were changed from. This dude has 3 different
Primary classes listed, but watching his stream he may have unlocked one via Sky quests. He said he's 1-2 quests off unlocking like 4 or more classes as well.
