It's definitely a work in progress that still needs a lot of polish. But DBG wants $$$ so ship it now. There is a solid enough game that it should be OK, and they are making improvements every week. This week they dropped 2 revamped dungeons, which both are decent xp at level with some OK toys.

The stances and invocations make this game. 100%. It actually makes you play the game rather than building up your procs and waiting/praying like most of THJ was.

Both these games are MOSTLY pulling from AA's that exist in later expansions and importing them in early. The difference is THJ pulled like 110 levels of AA accessible by Velious and this game is closer to having level 70 AA's in classic. That's why you sat there and grinded out 400 AA's in Lguk in THJ and in this you're feeling good at 100 AA's.

Now if like 64 of those AA's weren't semi-mandatory defense AA's I think it'd feel a LOT better right now. But once you eat your vegetables and you get into desert, it gets pretty good.

Stances and invocations?

Stances and invocations?

You get one stance (uses endurance, based on melee-ish classes) and one invocation (modifies spell casting). You can switch them around almost at any time and they have 6 second independent cooldown.

Getting your ass beat? Defensive stance for 50% less attack damage taken and 20% magic damage taken. Not under duress? Offensive stance for double attack damage.

Need to get a quick heal off? Inversion for giga cast speed, but your spells have a long cooldown. Pulling a boss and REALLY need slow to land? Overchannel for a huge -resist check on your spells. Want to play shadowpriest? Stack wisdom classes and use Divine Invocation to make EVERY spell you cast heal your lowest hp groupmate with the mana cost as healing. Nuke away and little Timmy is getting healed.

In solo dungeon/oh shit situations you switch between these as the circumstances demand. Most of the time you're crusing around in your giga damage setup until you pull 5 too many mobs or something, but in BIG shitballs or against GIGA bosses, you're actually PLAYING the game rather than auto attacking and hoping you win.

They basically gave you button to click that make your character do different stuff and they're not 15 minute CD's. A truly new EQ thought.

Russet was nerfed here due to warrior bitching. How classic is that?

I’ve been playing rng/bst/clr this go around. It was the trio I wanted to play before I got into closed beta. I really enjoy it except for its lack of haste spell and defensive stance. I have a haste proc in primary but it’s spotty so far. Maybe with more dex it’ll be ok. I previously had been using enc in all my comps, and it trivialized the game. The problem was it made me go into areas way sooner than I should and ironically was making the game harder because I was fighting deep deep reds. Without the cc, I’ve been going to those areas five-ish levels later (more light red) and tearing it up.

I’m thinking for bosses though I’d probably need a tank in there. Paladin just seems so OP here once the smite+loh came into play, and it would be great to powerlevel other classes to bank some AA and motes 10-46 due to so much undead availability. I mean damn they even get self haste. I also want to test out that warrior regen AA they added. I’ve always been a sucker for regen builds. I’m usually real stingy with mana during boss fights so that sounds great for turtling.

Ranger has a sky cloak for clicky haste. BST gets haste spells eventually, but not in classic. On live their first haste spell is Alacrity at 60. OTOH their pet haste is crazy good. And with the spell upgrade system you can get a level 49 warder, which you can kit out with all the WAR weapons you can find. I got a Monsoon I am planning to drop on mine. Been putting indicolite on it otherwise. No BST in current combo because I have other priorities for now.

On live BER/BST/SHM is on my list to try out. BER stance is just OP for all melee. SHM slows. BST pet. BER for DA/TA and weapon options.

Will be running SK/DRU/WIZ for first life just to get all my ports out of the way. With paw revamp there is now a good path from 25-42. You can ride it out to 46 if you want or hit lguk/solb. POH is hands down best xp for 46-50. Just do a d1 nonrespawning and you will get more than a level per clear, and shitloads of planar armor.

The biggest problem I see with this project is setting this expectation with revamping loot/dungeons. Are they going to go through EVERY fucking dungeon in the game and do this? A year between each expansion? Seems dumb.

Their stated goal is to have Kunark out by the end of the year. But yes, they are revamping all dungeons. And supposedly pushing out custom stuff as well. Neriak castle, something in the new iksar city.

The warriors health regen is “ok” in my experience. I’m at 6k health with only some planar armor and the regen is roughly 150-160 per tick. Against a single yellow or red con it’s good. Against 2 or more - or a boss - you will need to use other invocations most of the time.

These are awesome. Adds whole new levels of strategy to the way the game is played.

The stances are retarded, they're class homogenizing which is the exact opposite of good game design when it comes to a multiclassing game.

No, THJ pulled mostly AAs that made classes feel distinct, for example giving Rangers a lot of their Archery AAs but not melee AAs, making sure they were the bow build class. Giving Beastlord's all their proc stuff including their auto proc AAs, but not giving that same AAs to classes like Bards and Rangers that would normally get them. Making Beastlord's the premium proc build class.

THJ was in PoP you needed more AAs because of that. To beat classic content with Classic gear you were fine with just what they autogranted you from picking your class. You'll need much more Vegetable AAs when you get to Velious ect and they're infinitely slower to obtain here than on THJ. So enjoy your 100 hours of veggie farming.

Aside from the stance, what does Zerker bring to the table? Do they dual-wield? Do they have any other abilities? Are they popular simply because they hit fast?

They have stun and snare now as of last patch. Frenzy is free dps. They add DA/TA for classes that don't get them. They have a fuckload of BER only weapons with crazy good ratios in later xpacs. For now the biggest reason is the stance. It is just OP as all fuck for all melee classes.

Never run Monk in EQL. Are people using Striker or Offensive? I feel like Striker is only good when paired with Rogue so their backstab also boosts. Otherwise, too much auto-attack damage isn't being doubled just so your special kick & punch does. Am I on the right track?

So I'm curious, EQ Legends was marketed as basically Dad version of EQ.

They limit tons of shit unless you pay real money like load outs and inventory shouldn't be limited period because the achievements aren't in.

Class tokens and race tokens are insane grinds for a normie casual which is what this version was aimed at.

They're talking about new expansions instead of old. Fucking why people that loved THJ loved EQ. Some of my favorite zones were in Velious but Velious won't exist?

Who is this for?
